3 x Brand New Roles - Permanent - UK Wide (Midlands, Wales and West Project alignments)

The UK has set out its ambition to be and the energy industry is responding - together we are building a cleaner, greener Britain.

Want to manage the most exciting portfolios in energy?
As Senior Project Manager you\'ll be working in a function that looks after some of the biggest, most innovative projects in energy. You will take ownership of your own portfolio and will be supporting a team of project managers to deliver projects that affect the lives of millions. Working predominantly from home with some travel, to structure your own role.

We are open to full time and part time applicants, as well as flexible working arrangements.

About You

What we do isn\'t just important - it\'s essential. That\'s why we look to recruit experts in their field.

You\'ll have the flexibility and resilience to thrive in an ever changing environment, and the initiative to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in. Although you\'re an expert, you\'ll also be regularly exposed to new situations and are excited to learn everything you can.

You are incredibly positive and aware that as Senior Project Manager your attitude will affect everyone in your team and therefore the delivery of the projects they work on. Whilst you rely on your team to deliver for you, you are not afraid to take up the reins and redirect a project in the direction you want it to go.
You\'ll bring good experience of handling contracts and teams of project managers, a strong commercial focus and sound understanding of financial systems.

You will have the flexibility to travel when necessary and a company car is provided to support this.

Don\'t meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that women and people of colour are less likely to apply for jobs unless they meet every single qualification. At National Grid, we\'re committed to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace for everyone. So if you\'re excited about this role but your experience or qualifications don\'t match the job description exactly, we encourage you to apply anyway. You might just be the right person for our growing business in this role or another one.

What You\'ll Do

You will support around 5 project managers in your team and will typically cover one large and a dozen smaller projects in your portfolio.

You\'ll likely appoint new team members in the future as the projects development and mature.

Dealing diplomatically with people on issues such a contract dispute or an underperforming employee, you will know how to take the emotion and tension out of a situation and have the ability to help conflicting parties find middle ground.

Committing to developing yourself, in order to develop others you will take responsibility for building relationships and strong networks and actively creating a diverse, inclusive work environment that allows project managers to flourish.

You will encourage project managers to find new and better ways of doing things. You will keep an open mind and listen to fresh perspectives, especially from employees with backgrounds outside of electricity transmission.

As an organisation we are driven by safety. We have an industry leading \'Safe to Say\' policy which encourages colleagues to speak up and take ownership of safety issues. You will embed this in your team and at every point of your day.

Reviewing your project managers\' forecasts, including risk forecasts you will ensure they are realistic and reasonable. You will then be able to adjust, reprioritise, and ask for support from other National Grid departments when you don\'t have the resources or assets to match the volume of work.

Striving to do things as efficiently as possible, you will be mindful that when we bring projects in under budget, we have greater profit to share with our customers.

Using your knowledge of NEC contracts to support the production of those written by your project managers, you\'ll play a key role in limiting National Grid\'s exposure to risk.

What You\'ll Get

A competitive starting salary between \xc2\xa365,000 - \xc2\xa383,000 dependent on capability

As well as your base salary, a bonus of up to 15% of your salary for stretch performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%. You will also have access to a number of flexible benefits such as a share incentive plan, salary sacrifice car and technology schemes, support via employee assistance lines and matched charity giving to name a few.
