No 1 Performing Arts (NOPA) is a registered Incorporated Organisation that has been working with people of all ages in some of the most disadvantaged communities in Lambeth since 1991. We have been promoting good mental health and well-being since 2000 by providing psychotherapy, creative therapies and mentoring in schools and outreach in the community.

The Senior Psychotherapist will work in a multidisciplinary team within primary and secondary schools and in the community within Lambeth, to start as soon as possible.

A postgraduate degree or level 7/8 diploma in psychotherapy or creative therapies. A Clinical Supervisor qualification Registered with a recognised accredited body e.g. BACP, BAPT, PTUK, UKCP, NCS, and maintain registration throughout employment with NOPA

3+ years post qualification experience as a clinical supervisor 3+ years experience of working with vulnerable children, young people and adults as a psychotherapist or creative therapist. Evidence of work in schools and in the community Evidence of work with people from diverse cultures. Experience of managing a team of therapists and providing clinical supervision to therapy staff and work placement students.

2. Job Summary



Purpose:



To supervise, support and manage Therapy Team staff, trainees, and work placement student. Overseeing the work with children and their parents, to enable them to overcome a range of psychological and emotional issues, through delivering practical and emotional therapeutic support and creative opportunities with the aim of empowering them and enhancing their life chances.

To ensure needs assessments are undertaken to our expected quality standards to ascertain the client's requirements and signing off recommended therapeutic solutions.

To ensure that the staff team regularly update records to ensure that the needs of the child are prioritised and that a risk assessment under the Safeguarding Policy and Procedures is carried out for each NOPA client.

To work in partnership with the key agencies identified by the Children Act 1989, 2004 and the Care Act 2014 and subsequent updates to these legislation in order to effectively and efficiently address the complex issues, problems and needs of children and their families.

3. Key Tasks:



Main Duties and Responsibilities:



As Senior Psychotherapist - Clinical Supervisor you will be required to work 34 weeks term time in school. Your main duties are to:

Carry out the clinical supervision of NOPA therapy staff and post graduate psychology work placement students; Work closely with the Operational Manager to create strategic plans for each term; Attend regular meetings with the Operational Manager and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinators ("SENDCo") to discuss cases and attend multidisciplinary meetings. Meet regularly with the staff team to discuss referrals to the service and the allocation of cases; Have regular case review meetings with the staff team and Operational Manager. Supervise the Therapy Team through the assessment process to identify clients' needs. Continue to support staff members' work in relation to clients' progress to ensure files are updated, outcomes are recorded, and feedback is gathered from service users. Set key performance indicators for the therapy staff team and work placement students and monitor their progress via weekly meetings and termly appraisal meetings; Carry out weekly group and individual supervision meetings. Use and develop resources, tools, and frameworks to ensure the activities are engaging, educative and fun, whilst addressing clients' needs. Write and proof read reports to schools and outside agencies, making sure they are accurate, grammatically correct and formatted in accordance with NOPA's house style. Liaise with NOPA's Outreach Practitioners, volunteers, partners, and school staff to offer therapeutic advice and support as appropriate. Ensure compliance in your and the staff team's day-to-day work, with the Health and Safety Policy & Procedures of NOPA and host schools and ensure risk assessments are carried out as appropriate. Share information as appropriate in relation to assessed issues in line with the Children's Act 1989, 2004 and the Care Act 2014 and subsequent updates to these legislation, in order to meet the Safeguarding Duty of Care and Data Protection procedures. comply with all policies and procedures as outlined in the Staff Handbook.

Essential Knowledge



Ability to comply with the safeguarding duty under the Children's Act 1989, 2004, the Care Act 2014 and subsequent updates to these legislation. Ability to share relevant information in an appropriate way, according to Safeguarding procedures. Knowledge of child development process and Child Protection legislation. Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation. Knowledge of psycho-therapeutic methods, theories and practice.

Essential Skills/Abilities



Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Capable of providing advice and therapeutic interventions to vulnerable clients. Skilled at observing and analysing cases to identify appropriate methods to resolve them. Able to work on cases independently or with minimum support. Excellent organisational and time management skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 Programs, particularly Word and Excel. Ability to handle confidential information appropriately and carry out Safeguarding Risk Assessments. Capable of maintaining detailed notes as part of case management. Excellent written English, grammar, punctuation, spelling and capable of writing professional reports in NOPA's house-style. Ability to analyse complex cases, write reports and make recommendations to move these cases forward.

Essential Personal details



Ability to liaise effectively with colleagues, school staff and volunteers to achieve the best outcome for the client. To attend and participate in training sessions and staff meetings. To adopt a flexible working attitude with a willingness to travel and work from different venues and environments in London. Ability to work in an environment with vulnerable children in schools and community settings. A valid Enhanced DBS Certificate. Documentary evidence of Right to Work in the UK. Excellent listening skills and commitment to working within the BACP Ethical Framework. Ability and willingness to provide advice on mental health and well-being to vulnerable clients and school staff. Highly motivated and enthusiastic approach to work.
