Job Description

The post holder will be required to offer and provide clinical assessments to clients with moderate to complex mental health difficulties. To liaise with supervisors and leads to determine the correct treatment pathway for the client and to interact with all services to gather appropriate information to facilitate this process.

Main duties and responsibilities:



The post-holder will:

Hold a recognised IAPT qualification in low intensity (step 2) and working towards or qualified Step 2 Supervision Have robust experience in delivering complex assessments Have the ability to make swift decisions in cases of complexity and risk and safeguarding Offer evidence-based practice in guided self-help, CBT and psychoeducational groups if required In addition, there is a significant case management and clinical supervision component to the post. The post holder will work with clients experiencing common moderate to complex mental health problems known to various community services including GP surgeries. The post holder will supervise trainee and manage qualified psychological wellbeing practitioners if required. Undertake appropriate clinical supervision on a regular basis in accordance with MIB professional guidelines and policies Take personal responsibility for achieving agreed clinical activity in accordance with service policies. To develop an area of special interest in conducting assessments, to the level whereby the postholder could become a resource of information for the whole service. Maintain appropriate clinical records in keeping with service operational policy Participate in activities of 'continuing professional development' (CPD) on an annual basis. Attend professional meetings as appropriate. Ensure that client confidentiality is protected at all times. Co-ordinate and liaise between different staff groups across Mind In Bexley including Recovery Services, High Intensity Therapists and Employment Advisors Support client engagement and participation in interactive psycho-education within a CBT framework to large groups of Service Users. Contribute to the systematic clinical governance of the service. Proactively take responsibility for attending supervision, case management and line management regularly, participate in objective setting, performance reviews and respond to agreed objectives. Delivering some of all the Step 2 interventions. Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service. Keep coherent records of all clinical activity in line with service protocols Assess and integrate issues surrounding work and employment into the overall therapy process. Assess and integrate issues surrounding long-term health conditions into the overall therapy process

CLINICAL



Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service and develop programmes of care packages across the Mind in Bexley service. Assess and support people with mental health problems in the self-management of their recovery. Undertake assessments on new referrals, adhering to Mind in Bexley Talking Therapy (MIB) referral protocols, allocating suitable clients to the relevant care pathway within the service and referring unsuitable clients on to the relevant service or back to the referring agent as appropriate. Undertake client-centred interviews which identify areas where the person wishes to see change and/or recovery and make an accurate assessment of risk to self and others. Provide a range of information and support for evidence-based high volume low-intensity psychological treatments. This includes guided self-help, Silvercloud and group interventions. This work may be face to face or on the telephone. Adhere to an agreed activity contract relating to the overall number of client contacts offered, and clinical sessions carried out per week in order to minimise waiting times and ensure treatment delivery remains accessible and convenient. Where appropriate attend multi-disciplinary meetings in relation to referrals or clients in treatment. Complete all requirements relating to data collection within MIB. Keep coherent records of all clinical activity in line with service protocols and use these records and clinical outcome data in clinical decision making. Operate at all times from an inclusive values base which promotes recovery and recognises and respects diversity. Prepare and present clinical information for all clients on their caseload to clinical case management supervisors within the service on an agreed and scheduled basis, in order to ensure safe practice and the clinical governance obligations of the worker, supervisors and service are delivered. Respond to and implement supervision suggestions by supervisors in clinical practice. Engage in and respond to clinical skills supervision to improve competences and clinical practice.

PROFESSIONAL



Ensure that client confidentiality is protected at all times. Ensure the maintenance of standards of practice according to British Association for Cognitive and Behavioural Psychotherapy Code of Ethics and Conduct. Be aware of, and keep up to date with advances in the spheres of treatment of common mental illness. Ensure clear objectives are identified, discussed and reviewed with supervisor on a regular basis as part of continuing professional development. Keep up to date all records in relation to professional development and ensure personal development plan maintains up to date specialist knowledge of latest theoretical and service delivery models/ developments.

Holistic Delivery.



One of the aims of the Talking Therapy programme is to help individuals return to or maintain their employment. This service is run on a holistic person-centred ethos and on the recovery model. This means that factors like debt, employment and other social issues that impinge of people's mental health and wellbeing are acknowledged. The Hub provides seamless access to the additional support strands of the service. The post holder will be responsible for: -

Ensuring everyone on their caseload is fully informed of the range of support available at Mind in Bexley Liaise with project leads of additional support services to ensure smooth referral process to support Low intensity team

Information and Resources



The service will be utilising the IAPTus database programme in order to provide the required Key Performance Indicators to the Department of Health as well as other internal recording systems that are vital for the delivery of a fully integrated person centred IAPT service. The post holder will be responsible for

Ensuring they become conversant with all aspects of the IAPTus system. Ensuring that all database information systems are regularly updated with regard to client information. Maintaining all client file systems in an accurate, timely and appropriate manner in accordance with service managers' instructions and service procedures.

Audit, Research and Development



As a person centred service it is vital that qualitative outcomes as well as statistical outputs are recorded. To ensure that all of this information is recorded there are internal clinical audits, quality assurance systems and a developing a research element for the service.

This role requires a minimum of two days per week working from our Bexleyheath office.
