About our Opportunity:



The Senior QHSE Manager is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing and enhancing the company's Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) systems. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role plays a critical part in shaping the company's risk management strategy, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and standards, and embedding a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence. The position is based on-site in St Helens, with flexibility to support work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities:



Strategic Leadership



Develop and execute a forward-thinking QHSE strategy aligned with the company's vision and operational goals. Act as a key advisor to the CEO and senior leadership team on all QHSE matters. Lead cross-functional initiatives to drive a proactive safety culture and operational excellence.

Governance & Compliance



Ensure full compliance with ISO standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001) and all applicable UK legislation. Oversee audits, inspections, and certification processes across all business units. Maintain and continuously improve the Integrated Management System (IMS).

Operational Oversight



Monitor and report on QHSE performance metrics, trends, and risks to the executive team. Lead investigations into incidents and non-conformities, ensuring robust root cause analysis and corrective actions. Champion continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.

Leadership & Development



Foster a high-performance and collaborative culture. Develop and deliver training programs to enhance QHSE awareness and capability across the organisation. Support succession planning and professional development within the QHSE function.

Stakeholder Engagement



Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies, clients, and certification agencies. Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., HR, Operations, Engineering) to integrate QHSE into all business processes. Represent the company in industry forums and contribute to external QHSE thought Ability to develop new tests and procedures desirable

Qualifications & Experience



Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field (Master's preferred). Chartered or Certified QHSE professional (e.g., CMIOSH, CQI, NEBOSH Diploma, IRCA Lead Auditor). 8-10+ years of progressive QHSE experience, including at least 3 years in a senior leadership role. Demonstrated success in managing QHSE in complex, high-risk environments.

Key Skills & Competencies



Strategic mindset with strong business acumen. Exceptional leadership, communication, and influencing skills. In-depth knowledge of UK QHSE legislation and international standards. Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities. Proficiency in QHSE management systems and data analytics tools.

Salary:


Competitive subject to experience

Working Hours:


Full time, 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday.

Location:


Site based work at our Global Centre of Excellence in St Helens.

Holidays:


27 days holiday plus bank holidays. Plus, additional service days
