ETME are a Midlands based main contractor with a fantastic reputation across the residential build and general refurbishment sector.
Known for their quality-driven approach and long-standing client relationships, they now seek a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team due to sustained project growth and future expansion plans.
They possess a strong portfolio of in-house developments, new build, fit out and refurbishment projects across the Midlands with projects typically range from 500k to 20m in value.
Role Overview
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will oversee commercial delivery across a high-value package of works, ensuring cost control, contract compliance, and financial performance.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and oversee project budgets, ensuring costs remain within approved limits
Prepare and present accurate financial reports, forecasts, and budget updates
Administer contracts and ensure compliance with terms and conditions
Review and process variations and change orders
Lead procurement activity, including preparation of tender documents and evaluation of bids
Undertake interim valuations and prepare applications for payment
Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks
Provide commercial and contractual support to the project team
Liaise with clients, consultants, and stakeholders, delivering clear progress reports
Drive value engineering initiatives
Mentor and support junior members of the commercial team
Essential Requirements
Demonstrable experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor in commercial and residential build projects.
Strong track record in managing high-value contracts within complex project environments
Sound understanding of commercial processes, contract law, and risk management
Managing subcontractor packages from procurement to final account
Preparing and agreeing interim valuations and final accounts
Producing accurate monthly cost/value reconciliations and forecasts
Monitoring project cash flow and ensuring timely reporting
Supporting or leading client liaison meetings, ensuring commercial transparency
Working closely with the project delivery team to support successful outcomes
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Ability to commute to central Birmingham five days per week
Desirable
Experience leading commercial teams on major projects
Professional membership or working towards chartership (RICS, ICES, or equivalent)

Salary range 55,000-65,000 dependent on experience
PAYE or Self Employed status (if preferred) negotiable

About You:
Ideally degree-qualified or equivalent in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
Experience in a contracting environment across new build, refurbishment or fit-out projects
Strong commercial acumen with a proactive, hands-on approach
Comfortable working independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced environment
A natural relationship builder with excellent communication skills
