The Role



Fortem Solutions are looking to recruit a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Stonewater Housing contract. The office is based in Chippenham, however this is a hybrid role and you would only be expected to be in the office one day a week. You'll work in conjunction with the General Manager and Commercial leads and be responsible for Commercial Excellence within a Region/Hub by disciplined, efficient processes and maximisation of growth.

The Project



Our contract with Stonewater is long term with the option to extend the partnership again. On our contract we cover over 7,500 houses in 4 different areas of the South-West, from Taunton and Yeovil, over to Bristol and Swindon and down to Salisbury and Bournemouth. We currently deliver Repairs & Maintenance, Voids, Capital Works and an Electrical Service program. Essential and Desirable Criteria



Key responsibilities will include: o Managing the commercial resources across the Contracts and/or Planned Projects within a Region or Hub to support the Operations Director to deliver their financial and contractual targets. o Leadership and development of a commercial team. Supporting the recruitment, retention, training and the personal and technical development. o Ensure robust processes are in place to maximise entitlement and cash flow o Provide accurate financial information and maintain strong cost?management processes. o Prepare timely monthly CVCs and Management Accounts. o Implement procedures to ensure accurate allocation of job costs. o Monitor Vixen financial data and maintain regular data?cleansing routines. o Establish supply?chain control processes with full visibility of liabilities. o Ensure all contractual obligations are exercised and managed effectively. o Supporting the preparation of performance reporting and Budgets, Forecasts plus monthly cost and value reconciliations. o Responsible for reporting on WIP, debt and Capital Employed o Responsible for ensuring Ready Reckoners and other management reports are prepared and maintained for all relevant Contracts. o Responsible for establishing and maintaining Client relationships at a senior level. o Administer the appropriate contractual notices to maximise our entitlement whilst ensuring the client is bought into the process and meet client expectations through accurate and timely financial information.

Personal Qualities



Essential: o Experience at a SQS / senior commercial level in Social Housing with responsibility for a range of Contracts or single significant Contract. o Understanding of common standard contracts and ability to apply across a range of Contracts through the commercial team. o Commercially astute o Excellent data interrogation skills o Excellent Excel skills (incl. V-Lookup, Pivot tables and formula development) o Disciplined and rigorous in discharging responsibilities at a high level of effectiveness across all areas of responsibility. o Strong negotiating skills and an ability to close issues out. o Capable of achieving commercial objectives with maturity and sensitivity and in a timely fashion o Able to deal with matters relating to employees with maturity and discretion and at the same time maintaining team spirit o Suitably IT literate with ability to engage with company systems o Experience in securing new business o Experience in embedding and maintaining operating processes o Comfortable in preparing and presenting at a senior level o Valid UK driving licence Desirable: o Academically accredited and professionally qualified in Quantity Surveying. o Experience of Management Accounts o Excellent Access skills o Remeasurement skills o Commercial Contractor exposure
