Senior Quantity Surveyor

Glasgow, SCT, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

If you're a commercially minded professional who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and enjoys inspiring teams to deliver results, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today and be part of a company that values your expertise and commitment to excellence.

We require a driven and experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to work within our commercial team. You will support the Commercial Director in driving the Quantity Surveying function to execute cost control, income maximisation, and contractual compliance across multiple projects. You'll also play a key role in building and guiding the QS team while delivering accurate and timely commercial reporting to support project success.

What We expect of you:

You'll spearhead and manage the Quantity Surveying team, providing day-to-day guidance and ensuring commercial objectives are met. You'll be responsible for the preparation of key commercial reports, including plant utilisation, traffic management, and defect costs, while supporting the Commercial Director on claims and contractual matters. The role involves chairing weekly commercial meetings, promoting accountability, and ensuring the effective use of systems such as COINS. You'll champion safe working procedures, ensure all procedures are followed in accordance with company and contractual requirements, and maintain a strong focus on quality, accuracy, and compliance.

What Experience & Qualifications You Will Hold

To succeed in this role, you'll hold a minimum of an HND or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related field, with proven experience in a senior QS position--ideally within the utilities or civil engineering sector. You'll have strong knowledge of standard forms of contract, particularly NEC3, and be highly proficient with Microsoft Excel and the wider MS Office suite. Experience using commercial systems such as COINS, CEMAR, or DepotNet would be an advantage. Excellent communication and organisational skills are essential, along with the ability to work without supervision and manage a team effectively. A full UK driving licence is required.
