We are excited to be accepting applications for our Senior Quantity Surveyor vacancy in London.
The opportunity available is to join our industrial & logistics team in the Southeast, working on exciting new build projects with blue chip clients. We have offices in Central London, located around the Blackfriars area, as well as our Head Office located in Croydon. The successful candidate could operate out of either office to suit their convenience.
You will become an important member of our highly successful cost management team in London. Within your role you can expect to work with our clients and support them by providing pre and post contract cost management services on their developments which will comprise of large warehouse and distribution centre developments.
We are looking for a Quantity Surveyor who is competent in autonomously delivering a full breadth of pre and post contract duties in a client facing role. Prior experience of working on large new build projects within the built environment is required and we are seeking to hire a candidate with strong facing skills.
The vacancy would suit a Senior Quantity Surveyor who has achieved chartered status with the RICS or has made significant progress towards their APC Diary and is due to sit their assessment in the near future. As a business, we have embraced hybrid working as standard practice. Whilst working with TSA Riley you will be given flexibility to manage your time between the office, site and home.
Key tasks and responsibilities of the Senior Quantity Surveyor role include:
Working as part of a team of Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers reporting into the Technical Director whilst providing a cost consulting role the client.
Ensure that our clients achieve their stated objectives through close teamwork, proactive cost control and the provision of contractual advice.
Attend and/or chair meetings with client.
Prepare financial reports.
Monitor the communication of a project status.
Prepare full tender documentation.
Provide advice on contractors, specialists, procurement routes, cost and programme solutions.
Provide advice on suitability and preparation of contract documents.
Prepare management reports.
Monitor performance milestones and deliverables.
Administer cost/variation procedures.
Carry out full post contract surveying duties including establishing the effect of variations, settlement of accounts and disputes.
Provide day-to-day cost management of projects from estimate preparation and cost planning through to final account settlements.
Management and mentorship of junior Quantity Surveyors within the team.
Desired qualifications and experience:
A relevant degree or masters qualification in Quantity Surveyor or similar equivalent subject.
Full membership to the RICS or similarly reputable professional body is desired. However, we are pleased to receive applications from candidates who have made significant progress towards their RICS membership. Full support can be provided to candidates needing to complete their RICS application.
Prior experience of working in a quantity surveying/cost management role for a similar consultancy carrying out full pre and post contract duties.
Experience of working on large scale, new build projects within the built environment is desired.
Strong client facing and stakeholder engagement skills are essential and demonstrable experience of acting in the lead role to the client, providing traditional cost management services.
Familiar with common forms of contract such as JCT and NEC.
Demonstrable experience of carrying out tendering and procurement processes.
Prior experience of using CostX software is desired.
