We're looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to play a key role in the commercial success of a high-profile building project in Reading. You'll be responsible for managing all project costs from initial calculations through to final figures, ensuring value is maximised while maintaining quality and standards.
This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of complex commercial responsibilities, from contract administration and procurement to risk management and budget control. Alongside delivering project excellence, you'll also mentor junior commercial staff, supporting their development and progression towards professional qualifications.
What you'll be doing
Governance
Has a good knowledge of and adheres to the Company's governance requirements and maximises LEAN/digital opportunities.
Commercial Management and Administration
Orders information and systematically checks data
Prepares Activity Schedules, Resource Schedules & analyses tender documents
Critically appraises, estimates and negotiates the above with 3rd parties
Reviews complex contract programmes such as Time-Location
Assists with the preparation of delay and disruption programmes
Monitors subcontract activities, measure and respond appropriately
Prepares Internal reports, commercial progress and financial reconciliation and report to senior project staff.
Customer/Change Management
Understanding of the Customer Contract and undertakes customer and stakeholder management
Analyses rates & prices, agreement of variations and or compensation events as required
Prepares, submits and negotiates claims when required
Manages commercial aspects with Customer and Stakeholders for their area of responsibility
Procurement
Undertakes constructability analyses using construction programmes.
Prepares procurement programme and helps develop the strategy.
Development, Recruitment and Retention
Supports the recruitment, supervision and development of team members
Who we're looking for
BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent knowledge
MRCIS/MCInstCES/MCIOB or working towards them
CSCS Card (Professional Qualified Person)
