Senior Residential Support Worker

Job Title: Senior Residential Support Worker

Reports To: Registered Manager

Hours: Full Time, Flexible Shifts

Job Purpose



To undertake a lead role in ensuring the care, welfare, and safety of each child in placement. To provide guidance, support, and supervision to residential care staff. To ensure high standards of care, practice, and compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory frameworks.

Key Responsibilities



1. Leadership and Child-Centered Practice

Take a lead role in planning and managing shifts, ensuring children are safe, supported, and engaged throughout the day. Ensure Placement Plans are followed and embedded in day-to-day care. Support and promote education, ensuring regular attendance and engagement.
2. Team Support and Professional Conduct

Provide guidance and leadership to residential workers in line with policies and best practice. Ensure that all staff act professionally and uphold the home's ethos and values. Ensure risk assessments, policies, and procedures are understood and followed by all staff. Ensure staff rotate through shift patterns to build a broad understanding of team methods and practices. Monitor and ensure staff complete and check the Daily Log Book at the beginning and throughout shifts.
3. Incident and Reporting Responsibilities

Ensure incidents, accidents, and restraints are recorded accurately and passed to the Registered Manager in a timely manner. Promote compliance with Local Authority Child Protection Procedures and in-house safeguarding policies. Immediately report any safeguarding concerns to the Registered Manager. Ensure confidentiality is maintained in all aspects of care and communication.
5. Escalation and Safeguarding Oversight

Raise any serious concerns or issues directly with the Registered Manager. Champion safeguarding and high-quality care in line with national guidance and local policy.

General Duties



1. Attend team meetings, supervision, and training as required.

2. Contribute to a positive, collaborative working environment.

3. Work flexibly, including weekends and bank holidays as needed.

4. Follow Health and Safety regulations and report concerns regarding the premises.

5. Undertake other duties as reasonably requested by management.

6. Safeguard and promote the welfare of children in accordance with the home's policies.

7. Adhere to and promote the organisation's Equalities, Inclusion, and Diversity Policy.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Pay: 14.00-15.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
