We will pay you

14.02 - 15.06 per hour

for 169 per month. Plus,

80 sleep in

. This equates to approximately 36,100-38,200 per annum (excluding overtime).

About us



Trauma in Mind is a small organisation that aims to provide a loving and nurturing alternative to a family home.

We specialise in the restorative care of children who have experienced developmental trauma and difficult childhood experiences, helping young minds to reach their full potential.

We currently have two homes, Ripley and Heanor, both were rated outstanding with Ofsted in 2025. We are currently in the process of acquiring a third home in Sutton-in-Ashfield, anticipated to open in 2026.

Our home is based in Ripley in Derbyshire for three children and young people. We have a stable and consistent team - with a vacancy only opening due to upcoming promotions within the team. We are looking for and want people who can stay and grow with us.

Developmental trauma and disruptions in attachment can permeate every aspect of brain development. They effect biology and emotional regulation, cognition and reflective functioning, the ability to engage with the present and the integration of the self. Resultantly, children may not develop trust and a lack of safe relationships impacts their overall development.

Our therapeutic approach relies on a model of training and intensive support. Teams are supervised to apply evidence-based interventions through regular teaching and training, 1:1 supervision, team meetings, reflective practice and consultation.

Salary:



14.02 - 15.06 per hour week plus 80 sleep in rate (approx. 6-10 per month).

Hours:



Average of 39 per week as part of a shift rota. Working 2-3 shifts per week. Shift times are 08.00am-11.00pm and include around 6-10 sleep in shifts per month.

Annual leave:



28 days (plus an additional days annual leave for every year you work for us - up to 5 years)

Particulars:



Must hold a full driving license

Subject to an enhanced DBS check

Must be comfortable using IT

Hold or working towards the relevant Children's Workforce Diploma.

We are looking for EXCEPTIONAL people to help expand a therapeutic residential team.



-You must have a warm, empathic manner that makes each child and young person feel special and loved.

- You must be willing to give hugs but, recognise when giving space is needed more.

- You must be a good listener and curious about what you can learn from young people.

- You should understand that young people you have a strong relationship with one week, may refuse to talk to or, even insult you the next week. Your feelings should not be easily hurt.

- A high level of ease with being asked personal questions by children is essential.

- You must be able to have a lot of fun in the workplace but, also prepared to soothe and support overwhelming emotions.

- You must have the ability to read a ten-page personal plan with at least one interruption per page.

- If a child or young person wants to give you a makeover or style your hair, you will be the best model you can be.

- A high level of multitasking is essential. You must be comfortable with cooking dinner whilst entertaining hungry teenagers at the same time.

- Some knowledge about football, Xbox and Tiktok videos would be helpful but, diverse hobbies and interests are a distinct advantage.

JOB SPECIFICATION:



Main purpose



To undertake a key role in ensuring the care and welfare of each child in placement. To work within the TiM care framework, implementing relevant plans which draw on theories of attachment and child development. To raise any concerns with the registered manager as appropriate

Duties & responsibilities



Undertake a key role in day to day care

To help plan the day ensuring children are kept safe and engaged. Take on the role and activities of a healthy parental figure including meal preparation, cooking, cleaning, shopping, and general maintenance for the home Draw on knowledge of attachment, neurobiology and trauma to inform and guide approach to care To ensure the personal plans for each child are followed and adhered to at all times. To ensure education is promoted and supported and that each child's attendance in education is maintained. To ensure that you act in a professional manner at all times. To follow policies and procedures, as well as risk assessments. To comply with duty rotas and shift planer. Check all messages at the beginning of work or at any point during the working day as required. e.g. following a day trip. To record and document any incident / accident forms or restraint forms as applicable and that such information is passed to the registered manager within the agreed timescale. To follow Local Authority and the organisation's safeguarding policies. To report immediately to the registered manager any issues related to safeguarding. Be aware of Policies and Guidance Notes with regard to the care of children. Maintain confidentiality and appropriate boundaries at all times.
Responsibility to attend training and supervision

To undertake and complete training in accordance with the induction training schedule and Personal Development Plan. To learn and have support with applying the TiM care framework and working within a DDP model. To undertake trauma-informed supervisions on a regular basis to help apply the above knowledge.
Raise concerns

To raise any serious issues or concerns directly with the registered manager, responsible individual or clinical supervisor as appropriate.
General

To attend meetings and training as required. To share the responsibility for creating a pleasant working environment. To be flexible in hours of work in order to meet tasks required. To be aware of Health and Safety regulations particularly as related to the upkeep of the office building and its surroundings. To undertake any other duties that may be reasonably requested by your manager/responsible individual and clinical lead. Maintain personal and professional development.
