Are you an experienced care professional ready to take the next step into a leadership role that truly matters? Do you have a strong background in mental health, therapeutic support, and behaviour management? If you're looking for a meaningful challenge, this could be the role for you.
At Cornerstone Children's Homes, we're looking for a
Senior Residential Care Worker
to join our dedicated team and support a young person with complex needs in a solo residential setting in Reading. This is your chance to combine hands-on care with leadership--shaping a safe, structured, and emotionally supportive home environment where real progress happens.
About the Role
As a Senior Residential Care Worker, you'll play a key role in both care delivery and team leadership. You'll ensure the young person's wellbeing remains central to everything we do, while also overseeing the day-to-day running of the home, guiding staff, and maintaining high standards of care practice.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver one-to-one, therapeutic, trauma-informed support in a solo residential setting
Champion the emotional, behavioural, and physical wellbeing of the young person
Respond confidently and effectively to challenging situations using trained de-escalation and intervention techniques
Lead, mentor, and supervise care staff, managing daily operations and rota planning
Develop, implement, and review tailored support plans with a focus on emotional and behavioural needs
Collaborate closely with external professionals such as social workers and therapists
Ensure all safeguarding, record-keeping, and health & safety standards are consistently met
What We're Looking For:
Significant experience in complex care environments, ideally within mental health or therapeutic residential care
Confident in managing behaviour, including de-escalation and safe intervention practices
Emotionally resilient, calm under pressure, and grounded in a compassionate care approach
Strong leadership skills with a team-focused, proactive mindset
Full UK driving licence
and access to a vehicle with business insurance
Why This Role Matters
This is more than a senior care position--it's a chance to change a life. You'll help create a space where a young person feels safe, seen, and supported, while leading a team who shares your commitment to trauma-informed, child-centred care. Your leadership will shape not only day-to-day experiences, but long-term outcomes.
Ready to Make a Real Impact?
If you're ready to grow in your career while helping a young person build a brighter future, we'd love to hear from you.
Apply today and help create the structure, care, and stability every child deserves.
