Senior Retail Assistant
Job Description
Do you love pets? Would you like to join our award-winning pet shop chain?
You will be responsible for delivering excellent customer service, whilst maintaining high shop-floor and animal welfare standards. You will be the first port of call for all general assistants and as a key-holder you will manage the general day-to-day running of the shop.
- For this position retail experience is essential, but extra training will be given to work our systems
- An animal management qualification or previous experience of working with animals is essential
- I.T literacy is essential for shop systems
This is a part time position to cover 3 days a week plus potential overtime and will include weekends on a rota. Candidate must be flexible to provide cover for staff absence / holidays also.
The ability to cover in our other stores (Ross-on-wye or Chepstow) is a benefit and will increase the number of shifts we are able to offer, but is not essential.
The successful candidate must be willing to learn new skills as required and have a positive approach to dealing with customers.
Duties will involve:
- being a first port-of-call to customers on the shop floor, including interacting and approaching all customers and helping with enquiries
- managing general assistants with day to day queries and delegation of tasks
- cashing up tills & banking
- ordering
- aiding with social media
- using the till for transactions
- using your knowledge to inspire customers to try new products
- keeping the shop-floor to a high standard
- putting away deliveries
- replenishing and rotating stock
- using your knowledge to promote good pet ownership
- overseeing animal welfare standards and making sure all paperwork is correct
