Overview

The Mass Detection portfolio group provides globally recognized scientific leadership in the area of mass detection measurement in the life, food, and materials sciences. We use that understanding to direct the development of innovative, workflow-based products and solutions, enabling our customers to solve critical analytical challenges and advance scientific understanding.

A Senior Scientist in the Routine Mass Detection group is responsible for proactively providing expert scientific contribution which impacts product development and business outcomes, and positions Waters as the leading specialty measurement company. This includes providing technical and scientific input in the development of new science, technologies, methods, practices, and ways of working, as well as generation and presentation of scientific content using Waters\xe2\x80\x99 mass detection product portfolio to support business activities and new product development.

There is an opportunity to travel with up to 20% of your time spent overseas for pre and post-sales support, attending relevant scientific meetings and marketing events.

Responsibilities

Accountability:

  • Applies multi-disciplinary advanced knowledge across scientific disciplines
  • Works in a highly independent manner with little guidance from higher level scientist/manager
  • Applies deep understanding of market and competition to achieve objectives.
Decision Making/Problem Solving:
  • Manages complex problems and drives solutions from beginning to end
  • Independently analyses and interprets data and results
  • Maintain state-of-art knowledge on techniques and theory
  • Offer guidance and solutions to scientific challenges
Interpersonal Skills/Collaboration:
  • Builds relationships across the company and with customers; contribute as scientific expert to strategies with marketing and across global products
  • Interface across the organisation to influence and shape technology roadmaps
Creativity & Innovation /Initiative:
  • Develop design of experiments independently and guide others
  • Assimilate knowledge and contribute novel ideas for IP filing
  • Develop and validate creative and unconventional solutions
Customer Focus /Quality:
  • Support customers as partners and advise with deep understanding of needs
  • Provide scientific leadership to support the Routine Mass Detection business segment and drive revenue growth
  • Become a credible source for training and customer support, and utilise this effectively with internal and external customers
  • Proactively engage and collaborate with KOL\xe2\x80\x99s
Productivity /Managing for Results:
  • Provides high level direction (identify high level problems)
  • Manages multiple projects/problems
  • Identify, develop, and champion new ideas or fields of research
  • Routinely produces collateral and publishes papers.
Qualifications
  • Degree in relevant scientific discipline, higher degree preferred
  • Industrial experience such as pharmaceutical industry, QA/QC, life science, food & environmental, contract testing laboratories
  • Advance scientific knowledge of field/drivers/trends/technology with a focus on single quadrupole mass spectrometry (ex: LC-MS, GC-MS, ICP-MS)
  • Knowledge likely to extend across multiple related disciplines.
