Senior Seo Executive

Birmingham, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Why Avid Panda?

Avid Panda is an award-winning digital marketing agency experiencing fast, healthy growth. We're a small, highly skilled team where work doesn't get buried under layers of sign-off -- you'll have real responsibility, visible impact, and the space to do things properly.

We care deeply about quality, transparency, and doing the right thing for our clients. That's why our retention rate is strong, and why we're selective about who joins the team.

At the senior level, this means being trusted to run your own accounts, make sound decisions without constant sign-off, and be judged on outcomes rather than activity. If you can improve a process, challenge an assumption, or see a better way to do things, we want to hear about it.

The role

This role exists to take

full ownership of SEO strategy and performance

across a portfolio of client accounts.

This is a

hands-on senior role

. You'll be expected to execute SEO work yourself as well as direct others, choosing the right balance to deliver results efficiently in a small team.

You'll be trusted to decide what work needs doing, why it matters, and how it should be prioritised in order to drive meaningful SEO outcomes. When performance stalls, you'll be expected to diagnose the cause, adjust strategy, and course-correct -- not wait for direction. You'll turn commercial objectives into clear SEO strategies, ensure execution is effective, and take responsibility for results over time.

You'll operate with a high degree of autonomy, managing your accounts end-to-end with minimal day-to-day oversight. Progress and performance should be clear through project management systems and high-level metrics, without the need for constant check-ins.

What you'll be responsible for

Owning SEO strategy and performance across a portfolio of client accounts, including rankings, traffic quality, conversions, and commercial impact. Deciding priorities and trade-offs based on data, experience, and client objectives -- not checklists. Personally executing a meaningful proportion of SEO work, particularly in high-impact or complex areas such as technical SEO, on-page optimisation, diagnostics, and content direction. Selectively delegating clearly defined tasks where appropriate, reviewing work for quality and alignment, and avoiding delivery bottlenecks. Monitoring performance, explaining what's driving results (or lack of them), and adjusting strategy when needed. Communicating clearly with clients and internal stakeholders, especially when performance stalls or priorities change. Keeping work organised and visible through project management and reporting, enabling senior leadership to monitor at a high level.

What success looks like in the first 6 months

Confidently owning SEO strategy and delivery across your accounts without needing day-to-day direction. Making sound, well-justified decisions on priorities and execution. Personally delivering high-quality SEO work while balancing selective delegation. Clearly explaining performance movements and next steps in commercial terms. Running accounts reliably enough that leadership can stay out of the details.

About you

You're an experienced SEO who is comfortable owning decisions and outcomes, not just tasks. You don't need to be told exactly what to do -- you're confident deciding what matters, justifying your approach, and executing it effectively.

You care about results over box-ticking, and you're at your best when trusted to run accounts end-to-end. You're comfortable making decisions with imperfect information and adjusting course when results change.

Requirements

Experience & capability

Proven experience owning an SEO strategy and delivering across multiple client accounts (agency or equivalent environment). Comfortable working with minimal oversight and being accountable for outcomes. Strong analytical mindset, with the ability to interpret traffic, conversion, and performance data to guide strategy. Confident in explaining and defending SEO decisions and results to clients and colleagues.

Technical & tooling

Solid understanding of on-page, technical, and content-led SEO. Comfortable using SEO and analytics tools (e.g. GA4, Search Console, crawling tools, GTM, Ahrefs). Experience working with CMS platforms such as WordPress and Shopify. Strong written communication skills and attention to detail.

Experience supporting or reviewing work produced by junior SEOs. Deeper technical SEO knowledge or a specialist interest (e.g. technical SEO, content strategy, digital PR). Familiarity with AI-assisted SEO tools and workflows.
