We are a well-established and growing manufacturer of high-quality chilled and frozen ready meals, supplying major retailers and foodservice customers across the UK. Due to continued expansion, we are seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Shift Manager to join our dynamic team and play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence in our fast-paced production environment.

The Role

As Senior Shift Manager, you will lead a talented production team, ensuring the efficient delivery of high-volume ready meals while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and hygiene. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader with strong people management skills to step up, mentor teams, and contribute to continuous improvement in a supportive and progressive business.

This position will predominantly site between the middle of the current 2 shifts and be a days based role that will provide support across both shifts however flexibility is essential to support the business.

Shift Pattern

Week 1: Monday to Saturday, 07:00 - 15:00 Week 2: Monday to Friday, 15:00 - finish (typically between 23:00 and 03:00)

Key Responsibilities

Deliver manufacturing KPIs, ensuring production targets are met on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards Lead, inspire, and develop the team, identifying training needs and handling performance management, including disciplinaries and grievances Maintain exceptional site hygiene standards and champion food safety, health & safety, and quality compliance Drive a culture of continuous improvement using tools such as TPM, Lean Manufacturing, and Kaizen Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality Act as a key representative for food safety, health & safety, and quality across the site

About You

Proven experience as a Shift Manager, Production Manager, Team Leader, or Supervisor in food manufacturing (ideally chilled or frozen ready meals) Strong people management skills with a passion for team development, mentoring, and building engagement Solid understanding of food safety standards (e.g., HACCP), hygiene, and health & safety Ability to thrive under pressure in a high-volume production environment Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills A relevant qualification (e.g., in Food Science or Management) is desirable, combined with at least 3 years' experience in food manufacturing; alternatively, 5+ years in a similar supervisory role
