Key Responsibilities
Line management and supervision of a team of
6 soil materials technicians
Planning, coordinating, and overseeing
soil sampling and in-situ testing programmes
Ensuring testing is undertaken in accordance with
BS/EN standards, project specifications, and quality plans
Reviewing and validating site test data prior to submission
Acting as primary site contact for clients, contractors, and laboratories
Managing daily site activities, logistics, and resource allocation
Ensuring compliance with
health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures
Supporting training, mentoring, and competency development of technicians
Coordinating laboratory testing schedules and sample chain of custody
Providing technical input to reports and contributing to project reviews
About You
Degree or HND qualified in
Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, or a related discipline
Proven experience in
site-based soil materials testing
Demonstrable experience
leading and managing site teams
Strong technical knowledge of
soil testing methods
(e.g. sampling, DCP, plate load testing, CBR support, trial pitting)
Competent in interpreting test results and ensuring data quality
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Confident working on live construction or infrastructure sites
CSCS card (essential)
Full UK driving licence
Desirable
Experience working under
UKAS-accredited testing environments
Knowledge of geotechnical and contaminated land standards
Experience on major infrastructure, energy, or rail projects
Working toward or holding professional membership (ICE, CIHT, GeolSoc)
