As a Senior Social Worker within Adult Social Care, you will:
Provide exemplary professional practice, leadership, and mentoring to colleagues.
Use a person-centred, strengths-based and enabling model to work with adults and carers.
Promote community development, independence, inclusion, and positive outcomes.
Champion reflective practice, innovation, and continuous development.
Undertake leadership responsibilities, including safeguarding enquiries and staff supervision.
Act as a Practice Educator, Best Interest Assessor (BIA), AMHP or AMCP as required.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain fitness to practice and uphold the standards of the social work profession and the regulatory body.
Supervise, mentor and support ASYEs, less experienced social workers, and students.
Deputise for ATM/TM, lead safeguarding enquiries and chair planning/review meetings.
Apply and model anti-discriminatory and inclusive practice.
Effectively apply key legislation such as the Care Act, MCA, MHA, and Human Rights Act.
Build partnerships with individuals, families, carers, and agencies.
Manage complex caseloads, risk assessments, and support plans promoting independence.
Use assistive technologies, direct payments, and alternatives to traditional care.
Maintain accurate records and contribute to the team's data quality and information strategy.
Engage in CPD, reflective supervision, and share professional opinions and best practices.
Take part in duty systems and decision-making processes on safeguarding thresholds.
Specialist Responsibilities:
Provide expertise and lead in a specific area (e.g., Practice Education, AMHP, BIA, AMCP).
Represent Adult Social Care professionally and promote confidence in the service.
Additional Duties:
Ensure children's safeguarding concerns are escalated to relevant services.
Comply with Council's Financial Regulations and Standing Orders.
Undertake additional duties as needed in line with the role and grade.
Health & Safety:
Comply with Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and council policies.
Use equipment correctly, report risks, and avoid misuse of safety provisions.
Special Conditions:
Subject to an enhanced DBS check.
Must hold a valid driving license, business use insurance, and MOT (if applicable).
Must hold a Degree in Social Work (or equivalent), with registration with Social Work England (SWE).
