About The Role
FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Senior Software Engineer to work for our client within the finance sector. This is initially a 12-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in Manchester.
Our client is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to further build, maintain and develop their telephony channel. As a Lead Software Engineer within the Intelligent Gateway team, you'll be encouraged to work as part of an agile team to guide and implement technical solutions. You'll be responsible for promoting sound engineering practices and leading team members to architect, design, and implement those solutions.
You'll be support the client as they head into the next phase of their transformation journey. They are looking for a naturally passionate and curious engineer, with an innovative mind, who can make use of newly delivered architecture and support the evolution to a full micro-service application that can drive change, further improve operational efficiency, and deliver at pace.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of the client's telephony channel, ensuring high performance, scalability, and resilience
  • Guide and mentor team members, promoting best engineering practices, including clean code, test-driven development, and code reviews
  • Collaborate closely with product owners, solution architects, and cross-functional teams to deliver technical solutions aligned to business goals
  • Implement and evolve a microservice-based architecture, contributing to the ongoing modernization and transformation of the platform
  • Develop and maintain high-quality Java code using the Spring framework, with a strong emphasis on reusability and maintainability
  • Use Git for version control and SonarQube to monitor and improve code quality
  • Contribute to and manage task tracking and documentation via Jira and Confluence in an Agile development environment
  • Ensure solutions are secure, cloud-ready, and support seamless cloud deployments (preferably on Google Cloud Platform)
  • Drive the adoption of containerization technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm
