Job Description

On behalf of DWP, we are looking for a Senior Solution Architect for a 12 Month (Inside IR35) contract based Hybrid in Blackpool, Leeds or Newcastle.



Core Purpose



As a Senior Solution Architect, you will provide strategic technical leadership across a portfolio of projects within the Bereavement and Care Directorate. You will be responsible for designing scalable, cloud-based solutions that align with enterprise architecture standards, while simplifying complex technical concepts for a wide range of stakeholders.



This role requires a strong communicator who can bridge the gap between technical and non-technical audiences and lead architectural discussions at governance forums.



As a Senior Solution Architect your main responsibilities will be to:

Lead the design and delivery of cloud-native solutions, primarily on AWS. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure solution designs meet user needs and technical standards. Present architectural designs and recommendations at governance forums. Produce high-quality technical documentation and design artefacts. Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, digital blueprints, and product roadmaps. Advocate for microservices and event-driven architectures where appropriate. Support the reduction of technical debt and architectural complexity. Translate complex technical concepts into clear, accessible language for diverse audiences.

Essential:

Strong experience with cloud technologies, particularly AWS (Azure experience is a bonus). Proven ability to present technical solutions at governance forums and secure approvals. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Experience working collaboratively in cross-functional teams. Proficiency in technical authoring, including the creation of design and specification documents. Experience in application architecture design, including microservices and event-driven architectures. Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB or DocumentDB. Experience working in Agile delivery environments. Ability to align solutions with enterprise architecture standards, digital blueprints, and product roadmaps.
