Senior Speech and Language Therapy Assistant - 5 days a week, term time only
Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust Children's Speech and Language Therapy Service are looking for a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant to join our large, diverse and supportive team, working across the Early Years and School-Aged pathways. The role will involve working in health centres and clinics, nursery settings and schools across the borough of Lewisham, working with children and young people aged 0-19 with a range of speech, language and communication needs.
Supporting our Speech and Language Therapy drop-in clinics
Undertaking observations and contributing to assessment and information gathering as well as working independently or with colleagues to deliver speech and language interventions to children on the caseload, under the guidance of qualified therapists
Working with children and young people individually and in group settings
Supporting delivery of training and workshops to parents/carers and education staff
Providing a range of technical and administrative support to the service
Taking responsibility for specific areas of work as delegated, such as taking photographs and video, making appointments and producing resources for therapy and/or training.
To work with a Speech and Language Therapist to deliver packages of intervention in mainstream schools

Accountable to the Head of Therapies, Team Leads and other AHP Clinical Specialists
To work independently as a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant, undertaking observations, informal/formal assessments, and therapeutic interventions, within their scope of clinical competence, on an individual and group basis with children seen by the team, within the under the guidance of qualified therapists.
To provide a range of technical and administrative support to the service, taking responsibility for specific areas of work as delegated, such as taking photographs and video, making appointments, and producing resources for therapy and/or training.
To help provide clinical support to the service when necessary, including non-direct and direct work with children, their families/carers and early years/school staff, and making and maintaining resources to support clinical interventions.
To assist in the provision of high quality clinical administrative support to the team, being competent to carry out all the basic admin tasks whilst taking responsibility for specific areas of work which align themselves with the clinical work undertaken.
