Digital Innovation Unit
The Digital Innovation Unit is a capability within the Faculty of UCL Engineering and the first of its kind in UCL, if not the UK. Its mission is to develop a model for the 'Faculty of the Future', by applying digital innovation to all aspects of academic practice: research, teaching, knowledge transfer and professional services.
The Unit seeks to advance the strategic mission of the Faculty by identifying business problems and areas for improvement; designing, developing and implementing solutions, transforming working practices; and providing coaching, mentoring and training for Faculty Staff. In addition to delivering new systems and processes, it aims to transform the working culture of professional staff in the Faculty, by empowering them to take the lead in addressing their own professional challenges through digital innovation.
About the role
------------------
This is a 12 months fixed term role
until October 2026, in the first instance.
The role is a key point of interface between academic departments and UCL's central Communications and Marketing strategy and operations. Principal duties relate to UCL Engineering and include responsibilities to:
Develop and implement the faculty's digital student recruitment marketing strategies across Undergraduate, Postgraduate Taught and Postgraduate Research.
Provide strategic advice and guidance on undergraduate and postgraduate recruitment issues to academic and professional services staff
Develop and manage student recruitment projects such as the development of high-quality student recruitment materials, which support student recruitment, from initial enquiry to enrolment.
The role will suit an experienced marketing professional who is able to set the strategy for the faculty on student recruitment marketing, responding to the challenges of the future.
The post holder will update and maintain department websites in relation to course information on undergraduate, postgraduate and post-graduate research courses. This will include writing, editing and uploading content, and selecting and sizing images and multimedia
The post-holder will liaise with a variety of stakeholders, including Deans, departmental administrators, academic colleagues, and central teams across UCL's Communications and Marketing division and Registry (specifically Admissions), as well as external partners and institutions.
About you
-------------
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate:
Relevant first degree or equivalent experience.
Professional background in HE student recruitment.
Experience of managing and liaising with external designers and printers
Proven ability to develop and deliver strategies relating to student recruitment marketing
Ability to build productive relationships and networks with academic and professional services colleagues at all levels
Understanding and experience of UK higher education administration, specifically in a student recruitment and marketing context
