JOB SUMMARY



To support the Home Manager across all aspects of Home Management, providing a safe, caring, stimulating and Homely environment for residents and their visitors.

To ensure continuity of care to residents by promoting and delivering high standards of care, individually and safely, and supporting, demonstrating and instructing less experienced staff to enable them to fully contribute to the care team.

To lead the care team and plan, manage evaluate and review the care treatment and support for residents.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



Responsible for monitoring standards of care delivered by qualified and unqualified care staff by observation and direct Involvement, ensuring that all residents receive quality medical and personal care and that care plans are fully maintained. To lead the care team and plan, manage, evaluate personalised evidence based care and ensure this is delivered safely And effectively to the residents. Ensuring that the care required by all new residents is assessed planned, implemented evaluated and recorded in the person centred care plan and communicated to all staff appropriately. Skeleton care plans should be implemented immediately on admission, and used as a working document for a period of no more than 7 days after admission, to ensure that all aspects of care have been captured. Person centred care plans should be reviewed at least monthly and updated immediately if and when care needs change and care records and notes maintained accurately and adequately in accord with home policies and procedures. Regularly attend to residents with reduced continence control, toileting, cleaning and changing continence pads and removing wet or soiled clothing to ensure the resident remains comfortable and the risk of skin deterioration is reduced. Assist residents in their personal care including toileting, bathing, dressing and undressing, ensuring optimum independence, dignity and respect of individuals. Responsible for the ordering and distribution of prescribed medication to residents. Ensure medication rounds are carried out correctly. Make sure that internal medication audits are carried out and documented in line with policies and procedures and all new senior carers administering medicines complete and pass competency assessment prior to carrying out administration of medicines. Participate in the staff duty rota to ensure senior care support is available at all times. Staff rotas to be in accordance with budget guidelines, so that optimum number and skill set are available at all times to meet regulatory requirements and to deliver the high standard of care required to the people you support. Review and reflect on performance, providing support and improving practice having regular meetings (supervisions) with the team Appraise staff Instruction of all staff in safe systems of work, fire safety and evacuation procedures, and induction of new staff. Ensure all staff are aware of and follow correctly safeguarding procedures and all other policies and procedures in the home. Responsible for monitoring the state of wellbeing of each resident, being aware of any change impacting on care and care plans, ensuring that new needs are met and written records are amended to reflect any variation. Act as a focal point for contact with residents, their relatives and visitors, as well as health and social care professionals involved in their wellbeing, ensuring that any reasonable requests are acted upon and concerns or complaints are promptly investigated and dealt with appropriately. Liaise with the Registered Manager across the range of operational activity to be able to assume responsibility for managing the Home during the manager's scheduled and unscheduled absences. Liaise with the Home Manager on the marketing of the Home to existing and potential residents and relatives, health and social care professionals, developing links with other care providers to work together for the mutual benefit of those agencies and the Home. Practice safe systems of work across the range of tasks and in particular moving and handling of residents, by assessing risks and having due regard for personal safety and the safety of residents, visitors and staff. Understand personal responsibilities in relation to the Health and Safety at Work Act. Demonstrates a working knowledge of COSHH assessments. Act courteously toward residents and their visitors, respecting the dignity and individuality of each resident and ensure effective communication is maintained. Contribute fully to team working, responding positively to colleagues and actioning all reasonable work instructions promptly.

To work with the Registered manager to ensure the home runs effectively and efficiently and achieves the CQC standards. Attend all relevant staff meetings as required

Working Hours: Normally 33 hours per week - on the floor and subject to needs of the home office hours will be implemented.

PERSON SPECIFICATION



Knowledge & Qualifications Demonstrate a minimum 2 years experience and up to date knowledge of care, supported by relevant post - basic studies / qualification. Sound Knowledge of care planning and its practical application Knowledge of Health and Safety, particularly Moving and Handling Techniques, Fire Safety and COSHH Knowledge and understanding of the Health and social care Act 2008 (regulated activities 2010). Knowledge of the Care Standards Act 2000

Pay: From 15.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 33 per week
