About the Role
We are seeking a committed and motivated Senior Support Worker to join our new children's residential home in Bedford. This is an excellent opportunity to take on senior responsibilities within a developing service, supporting the day-to-day running of the home and contributing to the creation of a safe, stable, and nurturing environment for young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties.
Working closely with the Deputy Manager, Responsible Individual, and wider leadership team, you will act as a role model for staff, provide guidance in daily practice, and help ensure the delivery of high-quality, child-focused care.
A structured training and development pathway is available, offering clear progression opportunities for those aspiring to move into management in the future.
Key Responsibilities
Provide high-quality care and support to young people, promoting their safety, wellbeing, and development
Lead shifts and guide staff to ensure consistent, trauma-informed practice
Contribute to the creation of a nurturing environment where young people feel valued and supported
Assist with record-keeping, care planning, and maintaining compliance with the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards
Support the implementation of safeguarding procedures and ensure concerns are reported appropriately
Help new team members integrate into the home and uphold best practice
Work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team and contribute to continual service improvement
Requirements
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
Previous experience working in a residential children's home
Strong understanding of trauma-informed care and the needs of young people with EBD
Confident leadership skills and the ability to support and guide junior staff
Good communication, decision-making, and teamwork abilities
Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and regulatory standards
A genuine commitment to helping children and young people achieve positive outcomes
