- Flourish Senior Support Worker Role Profile



Job Purpose



Working under the direction of the Occupational Therapist the post holder will provide support to people, to promote their recovery and rehabilitation through engagement in a range of activities in all Flourish business areas.

To work directly with service users, on an individual and/or group basis, within Flourish enabling them to carry out tasks, attend to customers and visitors and undertake other prescribed vocational activities. The post holder will work flexibly and provide basic cover in a variety of flourish business areas at times.

Job Title: Senior Support Worker (specialising in vocational rehabilitation)

Responsible to: Occupational Therapist

Main aims and duties of the post



You will provide vocational training and support, and deliver therapeutic sessions, as part of our vocational pathway. This will include working with individuals to help them identify their strengths, develop their skill set and support them to reach their goals through encouragement, advice and support and helping them to find other agencies and opportunities accessible to them.

You will work positively with people who have a range of health conditions such as learning differences, mental health conditions, learning disabilities, being on the autistic spectrum, long term neurological conditions and substance misuse.

Provide vocational rehabilitation:



Assist the occupational therapist in the assessment, delivery, and review of vocational rehabilitation plans.

Hold your own caseload and work collaboratively with individuals on their personal and professional development goals.

Use therapeutic tasks to help people reach their personal goals.

Provide 1:1 and group interventions, to support social and emotional learning, and the development of self-management skills, helping people learn how to manage their health condition in a work environment.

Carry out agreed therapeutic interventions and reviews without direct supervision, working agilely across community locations as required.

Be aware of signs and symptoms of relapse and maintain an awareness of people's crisis/contingency plans.

Promote health and wellbeing e.g. healthy eating, physical activity, access to nature, social connections, and support individuals to access relevant groups/activities in their community.

Attend/participate in meetings and caseload reviews as required.

Provide verbal and written feedback on progress to the occupational therapist and maintain up to date records.

Provide Vocational Training:



Provide practical on the job support and coaching to help people develop transferable skills and industry specific competencies, specialising in horticulture and hospitality.

Use coaching techniques to support people to improve their self-efficacy and build confidence in their ability to perform successfully in the workplace.

Teach transferable skills and support people to gain qualifications, and move into paid roles, working closely with education providers and supported employment opportunities.

Provide guidance in developing curriculum vitaes and applications for jobs, training, or education.

Support junior colleagues, volunteers and learning mentors in their roles.

Establish links and maintain positive working relationships with other teams and agencies and make onward referrals as appropriate.

Act as an advocate within appropriate agreed boundaries of confidentiality/professionalism and have the individual's needs at the fore at all times.

Identify and advise on health and safety risks in relation to self and others, e.g. fire, food hygiene, cleanliness.

Maintain own professional development by attending regular supervision, training, and personal development reviews.

Contribute to the provision of student placements e.g. health and social care students and occupational therapy students.

Actively contribute to service reviews and developments.

You will develop an understanding of occupational therapy principles, procedures, processes, and general concepts; you will work without direct supervision whilst following standard operating procedures and protocols; make judgements, plan activities; contribute to quality improvement and demonstrate self-development.

Health and Safety



To implement, operate and maintain safe systems of work in accordance with Flourish and where appropriate partner agency policies, procedures and guidance, training, and associated risk assessments.

To report to a manager any situations or issues of concern relating to significant foreseeable risks, incidents (including near misses), and/or accidents in relation to safe systems of work.

To actively contribute to service reviews and developments.

Relevant information about service users who work with Flourish will be provided to staff, it is imperative that their confidentiality be respected.
