An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Support Worker who is motivated and enthusiastic to join the team at The Deacon Unit. The team provides assessment and treatment for people with learning disabilities who are experiencing a mental health breakdown.



The Deacon Unit is our inpatient unit, which is part of the Intensive Support Service , within the Trust's Learning Disabilities Directorate. The Multi-Disciplinary Team include Nursing, Senior Support Workers, Occupational Therapy, Speech & Language Therapy, Psychology, Psychiatry, Therapy Assistants and assistant Psychologist.



We are looking to recruit people who have good communication skills and are able to work well with people with complex needs



We will provide regular support and supervision and provide opportunities for development.

To actively work with people in implementing the care plan devised by a team professional. To act as an advocate and ensure that there is proper regard for peoples' dignit y , choic e , self-esteem, racia l , cultural, sexual and religious needs and preferences . To participate in assessments, planning, implementation and evaluation of interventions as part of a holistic approach working in a variety of settings. To observe and document any changes in wellbeing of the people that they are supporting, reporting to the professional or team manager any new or change in risk or presentation of the person. To take appropriate and immediate action to keep people safe in a crisis or safeguarding situation, reporting back to a senior colleague in a timely manner. To work within the Positive Behaviour Support framework.
