Senior Support Worker - Children's Homes (Pathway to Deputy Manager)

4 days per week (8 am - 8 pm)

About the Role



Provide high-quality care and support to children and young people, ensuring their safety, welfare, and personal development at all times. Lead, motivate, and mentor a team of support workers, setting high standards and supporting best practice. Take responsibility for key working, care planning, and risk assessments. Support the management team with rota planning, staff supervision, and incident reporting. Build positive relationships with children, families, and external professionals. Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with safeguarding and regulatory standards. Commit to a minimum of 48 hours per week (four 12-hour shifts), including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays as required. Engage in ongoing training and development, with a clear pathway to Deputy Manager.

Role Requirements



Minimum 2 years' experience in the care sector, ideally within children's residential care. Previous experience supervising or mentoring staff is highly desirable. Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent), or willingness to work towards this qualification. Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills. Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and relevant regulations. Ability to remain calm and solution-focused in challenging situations. Commitment to ongoing professional development and progression into management. Flexibility to work shifts, including nights and weekends. Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one)
