About the role

March Supported Living and Respite Service is based in the Fenland town of March. The service provides adults with a learning disability access to short term respite and supports tenants living in a range of bungalows and houses.


The role of Senior Support Worker is to lead a staff team of Support Workers to support and empower adults with a learning disability to enhance the quality of their life, maximise their potential and to continue to promote and develop independence skills within their home, the community, or within a supported unit or whilst accessing respite.


You will supervise a team of Support Workers providing support, training and supervision; ensuring high quality care and compliance with relevant legislation and guidelines.


The shifts are on a 4-week rota which could be subject to change to meet service need. The shifts will be during the week, evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays (between 7am- 10pm), additional enhancements are paid for weekends and Bank Holidays. You will be required to work one weekend in four and complete sleep ins.


The post available is for 30 hours per week, every week.

as the role is less than full time, it does not meet the salary requirements for us to be able to offer sponsorship with this position.

The starting pay for the posts is 14.36 per hour with enhancements for weekend and bank holiday working. (Saturday 21.54, Sunday 25.56 and bank holidays 28.72).

What will you be doing?

You will report to the Registered Manager to ensure the service meets Care Quality Commission requirements.


You will ensure that information within the service is accurate and up to date and reviewed to meet requirements. This will include care plans, medication management and recording, health action plans, hospital passports, risk assessments, safeguarding, and accident and incident reports. You will also undertake audits and quality assurance checks.


You will take responsibility for more complex health needs and liaise with health professionals. Attend meetings and appointments with professionals when required. Work within Mental Capacity legislation and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and have the ability to apply legislation within your area of responsibility.


You will supervise a staff team of Support Workers and manage staff resources to ensure the service has adequate staff cover to agreed levels will also be required.

About you

You will have at least 2 years of experience working with at risk individuals, an understanding of respite and supported living principles, and knowledge of safeguarding and Mental Capacity Act. You hold at least a Level 2 qualification in Health and Social Care and be willing to complete the level 3 qualification within the role if you have not completed this already.


As a Senior Support Worker, you will have excellent verbal and written communication and case recording skills as well as proficient IT skills to support communication and record keeping.
