Responsible for:
You will directly supervise the junior support workers as agreed with the Head of Service Delivery and be responsible, as part of the Senior Management Team for the resources and services of the Trust
Job purpose:
Within the policies and procedures of the Trust, and as directed by the Head of Service Delivery, thepurpose of the Senior Support Worker's post is to assist in the management of the Project, its accommodation, staff and resources, to ensure the provision of high quality and safe services for all young people who access Trust services. In doing so, to work within a framework of Equality of Opportunity for all young people and staff, maintaining safe and healthy working practices for yourself and colleagues/residents and contributing, as part of the Senior Management Team, to the development and sustainability of services.
Principal Responsibilities:
Deputise for the Head of Service Delivery
Be available on the duty rota system to work evenings and weekends
Act as 'on call officer' as required by the duty rota
Ensure effective management of human resources
Directly supervise and support junior support workers, overnight staff and any other staff as directed by Head of Service Delivery ensuring they are carrying out their duties as per their job descriptions and are performing and practising the Trusts valued
Ensure that the health and hygiene of residents is acceptable and monitored
Maintain the organisation's policies, where appropriate ensuring they are up-to-date, consistent and implemented effectively
Adhere, practice and promote the Trust's values
Specific Tasks:
Staff Management
Contribute to the management of staff in respect of all Human Resource (HR) issues including recruitment and selection; induction, training and support; allocation of tasks/responsibilities to staff; staff performance development plans and development; disciplinary and grievance processes
Ensure that the specific staff management systems for which you have responsibility are efficiently operated, such as staff rotas, ensuring adequate cover. Specific areas of responsibility to be agreed with the Head of Service Delivery.
Supervise and support staff for whom you have direct line management responsibility and/or in policy areas on which you lead guiding and monitoring their work, contributing to the appraisal process and supporting them to meet any targets set
Property Management and Health and Safety
In the event of urgent need, due to damage of the property, to take emergency action to render the building safe and secure. Assist in the keeping of records of maintenance and repair. Assist the Head of Service Delivery by reporting and arranging for repairs to be carried out.
Give assistance to ensure that furniture and equipment is kept in a good state of repair and report any damage to the Head of Service Delivery.
Assist the Head of Service Delivery by carrying out regular property checks on the Trust's properties and ensuring that the health and safety checks are completed on time.
Carry out all H&S checks as directed by the Head of Service Delivery
Health & Hygiene
Assist the Head of Service Delivery by developing and monitoring all residents' health & hygiene standards in the Trust's properties ensuring that these are maintained to a good standard of both cleanliness and repair.
Ensure weekly Health & Hygiene checks are completed on all residents' accommodation including communal areas reporting any issues or areas of concern to the Head of Service Delivery.
Liaise with keyworkers in monitoring and maintaining high standards of Health & Hygiene within the project and for all residents ensuring that staff support residents to complete Health & Hygiene tasks e.g. cleaning of communal areas..
Finance and Administration
In consultation with the Head of Service Delivery complete and up-date client records and ensure that they are confidentially and appropriately stored
Always follow the finance policy and ensure the team do too
Services to Residents
Promote the safety of all young people who use Trust services through the development and implementation of appropriate safeguarding policies and procedures. Acting as a Reporting Officer and ensuring the confidentiality of the process and support for service users and staff as appropriate.
Complete inductions with all new residents on the day they move in
Meet with the individual young people referred and their support workers ensuring appropriate risks assessments are completed prior to any young person being accommodated in NET project
Supervise the effectiveness of applications for accommodation, ensuring that when residents move into the project that the appropriate Checklists are fully completed continually monitoring the work of staff involved.
Maintain regular contact with residents providing practical support, advice and guidance to help them up-hold house rules and their licence agreements; obtain training and training advice; access support/health/information and other services in the community
Ensure that individual residents receive the highest standards of care, support and training to enable them to fulfil their potential, promoting their safety and development to enable them to live as independently as possible at Trust supported housing and to acquire and develop the skills, they need to enable them to live in the community
Ensure implementation of key-work support by staff for residents, conducting quarterly reviews.
Ensure that the Residents' Activities houses operate efficiently by guiding and monitoring the work done by staff on the duty rota, reporting to Deputy Manager as appropriate
Ensure house meetings take place.
Ensure clients receive welfare rights and housing benefit information to prevent rent and other arrears, attending appointments with clients if necessary.
Help and encourage clients to gain access to necessary services and sources of support and information in the community.
Ensure that clients apply for move-on accommodation in a planned way.

Qualifications & Experience
Experience:
Previous experience in a support worker role, ideally working with young vulnerable people with complex needs, and experience in supervising a team of at least 5 people
Qualifications:
Diploma in Health and social care, level 3 in Health & Social Care (or working towards it).
Training:
Previous experience in safeguarding
Other:
Full UK driving licence with use of a car, insured for business use
