Senior Residential Support Worker
, you'll act as a mentor and role model, leading by example and upholding the highest standards of

Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Mentorship
Lead and support a small team of
Residential Support Workers
to deliver consistent, child-centred care.
Provide guidance, supervision, and performance feedback to ensure best practice.
Model resilience, empathy, and professionalism in all interactions.
Crisis & Therapeutic Support
Deliver
trauma-informed crisis interventions
and emotional regulation support.
Use evidence-based techniques (e.g. grounding, de-escalation, and PACE model principles) to promote stability and recovery.
Support young people with
complex trauma
,
attachment difficulties
, or
challenging behaviour
.
Daily Living & Routines
Encourage participation in daily routines, education, and community activities.
Support independence, confidence, and wellbeing through structure and consistency.
Accompany the young person to appointments, educational placements, and leisure activities.
Safeguarding & Advocacy
Ensure the protection, safety, and welfare of young people at all times.
Actively advocate for each young person's rights, voice, and best interests.
Maintain accurate records and comply with
Ofsted
and
Regulation 44
standards.
Positive Behaviour Support & PACE Approach
Embed
Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, and Empathy (PACE)
in every interaction.
Promote
Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
to encourage emotional growth and self-regulation.
Collaborative Working
Work closely with
social workers
,
education providers
,
CAMHS
, and other professionals to deliver integrated care.
Support the
Registered Manager
with quality assurance, audits, and compliance processes.
Professional Development
Participate in reflective supervision, continuous professional development, and training opportunities.
Take part in on-call duties and demonstrate flexibility across shift patterns (including sleep-ins, evenings, and weekends).
About You
We're looking for a caring, resilient, and motivated individual who is passionate about
supporting children and young people in residential care
.
Essential:
QCF Level 3/4 in Residential Childcare (or equivalent), or willingness to work towards Level 5.
Minimum 2 years' experience in a
Children's Residential Home
or similar care environment.
Proven leadership and mentoring ability.
Experience supporting young people with
challenging behaviours
and
emotional or mental health needs
.
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Flexibility to work on a rota basis (including sleep-ins and on-call).
