Highway and Transport Services - Enhancing Lives, Building Communities

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Senior Technical Officer to join our team on a two-year fixed-term contract.

This role is key to progressing several important projects, including essential health and safety work on box tombs in closed churchyards and supporting the delegation of services to town councils.

You'll take the lead on the adoption of public open spaces and amenity land, making sure developments meet Council standards and deliver lasting benefits for local communities. You'll assess planning applications, negotiate with developers, and oversee the delivery of open space, play areas, and street furniture. The role also includes managing the burials service and working closely with internal teams, legal services, and local councils.

We are seeking someone with a strong technical background, ideally with an HNC or higher, and experience in planning, construction, or environmental projects. You'll need excellent communication and negotiation skills, a good understanding of planning law and policy, and the ability to manage complex projects. Along with experience of procurement processes.

This is a great opportunity to make a real difference in shaping local spaces and services. If you're ready to take the lead on high-impact work, we'd love to hear from you.
