Technical security is vital to enable our organisation to operate efficiently and securely. As a Senior Technical Security Engineer, you will be actively protecting the UK and its assets.






As a skilled and dedicated Senior Technical Security Engineer, you'll lead the Technical Security Team and deliver critical security solutions.


You will bring your in-depth knowledge of security systems and electrical system installation to lead a team to work collaboratively and innovatively on global hardware upgrade programmes.


You will work a combination of office based and installation work meaning you have a varied and dynamic workload. You will be taking the lead on installing and commissioning security systems, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, and providing remote technical support. You will support the research and development of new technical security systems and participate in meetings with stakeholders to understand new and emerging threats.


You will also be fully supported to participate in training courses and workshops to develop and expand your technical knowledge.


Travel is a key element of this role, and you should be prepared to travel for upwards of 20 weeks per year, sometimes at short notice.


Your work will be essential to the organisations ability to operate efficiently and securely in this unique role you will be actively contributing towards the protection of the UK and its assets overseas.







More About You




To apply for this role, you will already have:

Comprehensive technical knowledge of security systems, including CCTV, intruder alarms and access control systems OR relevant field. Good electronics knowledge. Fundamental understanding of IP networking. Previous experience of leading small teams of engineers.

It would be beneficial if you also have one of the following (although these are not essential):

Knowledge of Technical Security. Knowledge of Electrical Systems. Knowledge of Communication Systems.

Physical demands of the role




This role requires frequent standing, walking and climbing and includes working at heights and may involve working in cramped or confined spaces. You will also be working in a variety of environmental conditions.


You must be able to:

Lift and carry equipment and tools safely. Be able to work in a variety of physical positions, including standing, kneeling and crawling. Be able to use manual dexterity to perform tasks such as wiring and connecting equipment.

Putting your skills to use




Using your diverse range of skills within the Technical Security Team, you will:

Configure and test equipment before deployment. Lead in installing, commissioning, and testing security systems, such as CCTV, intruder alarms, and access control systems. Lead in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues during installation and commissioning. Ensure that all installations meet the required technical and security standards. Provide remote technical support for security systems. Lead in conducting maintenance visits to ensure that security systems are functioning correctly. Support in the research and development of new technical security systems and solutions. Participate in training courses and workshops to develop technical skills and knowledge.

There will be opportunities to develop your skills and training, upon joining you will be mentored and coached from experienced member of the team, and there will be opportunities to collaborate with other teams and organisations to share knowledge.


You will be able to attend internal and external courses, conferences, and workshops to expand your knowledge and skills and if you so wish you could obtain qualifications such as:

Certifications in areas such as CCTV, intruder alarms, and access control. Diplomas or degrees in related fields, such as electrical engineering, electronics, or computer science. Professional certifications, such as those offered by the Security Institute (SI) or the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).
