The Opportunity

You are the advocate for Testing in your team. You ensure the quality of your team's deliverables by performing the testing function within and across the team, advising all team members on best testing practices. This is a hands-on role, and you will be actively involved in both manual and automated testing practices. You will need to have a "test-to-break" approach, delving deep into our product with a determination to deliver value to the customer. You don't like doing things twice and are always looking for ways to increase the automation in our testing.


As a Senior Test Automation Engineer you will be expected to take a leading role in the development of quality Gentrack products by sharing knowledge and mentoring team members and other developers across teams in best testing practice. You will be fully competent across the range of testing that we carry out including automation, api, and performance testing. Leading by example in the pursuit of excellence in all areas is fundamental to this role. You will identify and advocate for improvements to our test framework, processes and products.



At the Senior level your success will be reflected by:


The definition and implementation of effective automated tests for your teams work

Success is being able to spend time on deep exploratory testing since all the common test cases are automated.

Effective participation in all aspects of Agile software development.

The continuous improvement in quality of our product, Your team's ability to confidently work on user stories knowing that there is a safety net to catch regressions early.

Feedback from staff you are mentoring


Successfully progressing improvements to practice, process, and product.

The Specifics





You provide the Tester's viewpoint to everything your team does, from sprint planning to backlog grooming. You are responsible for test automation and writing new automated tests, and hooking them into the CI infrastructure.

You create and manage test data You ensure all sprint deliverables are tested appropriately. You check for the boundaries cases and beyond.

You advocate test automation and always look to reduce ongoing testing effort.

You provide visibility into the quality of your team's deliverables and the overall product.

Guide and Mentor other scrum team members

Be a positive influential force for technical best practice within scrum team



What we're looking for

(you don't need to be a guru at all, we're looking forward to coaching and collaborating with you):




4+ Years of experience as a Test Automation Engineer or related role

Experience in working in an Agile Software Development environment

Strong Working knowledge in relevant technologies and concepts including Jenkins, Selenium, Cucumber, AWS, Jmeter, Objected Oriented Design - Java/ C#, Web Services, CRM, Utilities industry, Enterprise Database.

Proficiency in Testing Management tools: JIRA, Test Rail

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills.

Relevant Tertiary Education, ISTQB Foundation certification
