The Senior Transport Planner position is central to making sure our planning desk runs smoothly and efficiently. You'll work alongside our Senior Operations Supervisor to deliver the best possible fleet plan each day, while supporting the ongoing development of the transport operation.

Planning

sets the strategy, making sure freight runs on our own fleet, through pallet networks (Palletline and Hazchem), or via our trusted subcontractors - cemented by over 70 years as the longest-serving member of the Transport Association.
As Senior Planner, you'll not only make sure tomorrow runs to plan, but also support your team and help shape how tomorrow's operation looks.

What you'll do

Lead the daily planning desk, building and optimising transport plans in Qargo (TMS) Work closely with the Senior Operations Supervisor to ensure fleet plans are practical, cost-effective and customer focused Allocate vehicles and drivers, ensuring compliance with WTD, drivers' hours and ADR regulations Support and mentor other Planners, sharing best practice and driving continuous improvement Build strong relationships with customers, warehouse teams and long-standing subcontractors (we don't use selling platforms) Monitor live operations, resolve challenges and keep service levels on track Contribute to fleet development projects, network optimisation and sustainable transport initiatives Take part in a shared Saturday morning rota (1 in 6)

What we're looking for

Experience people manager Proven experience in transport/traffic planning for a multi-vehicle fleet Confident using a web-based planning platform (Qargo or similar) Strong knowledge of drivers' hours and compliance rules (UK & EU) Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to stay calm under pressure Clear communicator and team player Comfortable mentoring and supporting plannering team A genuine interest in sustainable logistics and operational development
