Purpose of the Job:

Affixxius Films is looking for an experienced Video Editor to join our fast-paced, highly skilled, and multi-award-winning commercial film production team. The role will see the successful candidate working on a huge variety of commercial film projects and will work closely with our Head of Post-Production to help ensure the Post-Production department runs smoothly. The position will also encompass a client-facing element, dealing directly with clients for reviews and amends of work as well as maintaining regular and professional email and telephone contact.

Main duties and responsibilities:

Video Editing:

Taking of editing briefs with detailed understanding, working closely with Director's and Executive Producers to understand the aims and requirements of each project. Structural and Creative Editing - to an exceptionally high standard - on a wide range of commercial film projects (for both commercial and education sector customers). To organise and manage projects in the Post-Production phase on both a technical and project management level, including logging of footage where required. Creation of basic motion graphics, where required, to support editing projects. Basic sound design ready for submission to client. To handle client review feedback - online or in person - to gather feedback and present edits of films in a professional manner. Managing feedback on edits and performing amendments before preparing films for final submission to customers in whichever format required.

Experience and Competencies:

Candidates must have good professional experience as an Editor (minimum 3 years) and must be committed to the production of creative, effective commercial film material for clients of all types and will be working in both the Commercial and Education arms of the business. Our post-production workflow is based on Apple hardware and software and so good knowledge of Premier and/or FCP X and associated software is essential. A good eye for and technical grasp of Motion Graphics (animation, titling etc) is important and knowledge of software such as After Effects would be beneficial, but not essential. A good standard of written and spoken English is expected. This position is based at our production facility in Loughborough, Leicestershire, and there will be a significant client liaison element to the role (either remotely or in person). As such a polite and professional demeanour and good communication skills are expected. A willingness to be part of a working team, including caring for the working environment and assisting the team with simple administrative duties if required.

Strong work ethic and ability to self-manage and self-motivate. Strong interpersonal and client-communication skills. Organised and thorough in handling project management tasks.

Probation:

The first 12 months of employment will be considered a probation period.
