Brief

: Elstead Lighting sells a wide range of Decorative Lighting in the UK, EU and other countries around the world of more than 2000 models. 8% of sales are made in our small but versatile production operation in the UK and the business is looking for a hands-on leader who is comfortable manufacturing as well as organising and leading. Presently a team of circa 15 works in this department.

Role:

Manage the Manufacturing / production departments which include welding and brazing, machining, paint finishing, wiring and assembly. Help ensure process functions operate efficiently and effectively within a traditional manufacturing environment. Our work encompasses a mixture of long-established engineering methodology with more modern, technology led processes including CNC lathe and mill. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of manufacturing and engineering principles, processes, and systems and is comfortable organising and helping to produce. The role will suit both an existing hands-on Production Manager or someone of proven more senior supervisory experience in a similar manufacturing environment.

General knowledge of a modern ERP systems will be helpful combined with previously gained skills in production job management and its associated ERP processes.

This role is key to the continued improvement and development of the manufacturing process, ultimately delivering excellent customer service and outstanding stock availability to support the continued growth of the business.

Key responsibilities will include:



Manage and oversee the production/assembly departments, ensuring quality and timescale commitments met as well as driving improvements across all aspects.

Daily supervision of the production team, giving coaching, leadership and support, as well as multi-skill usage to meet mixed forms of demand across different production teams.

Planning of production including troubleshoot daily / weekly product shortages to do the best we can to ensure the swiftest resolution by both internal and external solutions.

Manage the production demand for locally supplied materials, components and consumables, liaising with suppliers for best pricing and lead times.

Ensure the production department is fit for purpose, reviewing working methodology and machinery, providing fact-based improvement and development recommendations.

Support the management of UK made/assembled product and component audits, reviewing findings directly with purchasing where applicable, implementing preventative, corrective and developmental actions as required.

Have good or reasonable understanding of ERP methods of manufacturing, bill of materials, component stock levels and re-ordering process to support maximum stock availability on UK manufactured and assembled fittings.

Provide knowledgeable support to the company Health and Safety policy and compliance, supporting a small team with risk assessments, policy update or any other associated task as required.

Play a supporting role in the company ISO9001 on-going accreditation, participating in monthly management meetings and progressing agreed actions with a potential to become internally qualified auditor.

Manage all business equipment service schedules, arranging routine maintenance and organising repairs as required.

Candidate Profile:



Proven Production experience having good knowledge in actual producing as well as managing / supervising.

The additional qualities and experience we are looking for are:

5+ years' experience in metalwork manufacturing background in both hands-on Production and Production Management or Supervisory role with relevant qualifications if applicable.

Good ability to communicate at all levels of the business.

Working knowledge of a current ERP system, preferably including sales, production, supply chain, logistics and warehouse management components.

Good Microsoft outlook, Excel and Word skills.

Highly motivated, organised and a strong desire to take ownership.

Collaborative approach to work within a team.

Employment type:

Full-time permanent position reporting to the Director of Operations / Managing Director

Days & hours of work:



Monday to Friday - TBC (40 Hours Nominally - Paid).

Benefits:



30 days holiday inclusive of Bank Holidays (pro rata to start date).

Statutory pension scheme enrolment upon successful completion of probationary period.

Pay: 45,000.00-50,000.00 per year
