Job Description


Binnies is recruiting environmental scientists/consultants to join our growing multi-disciplinary Environmental Services team. Binnies specialises in Critical Human Infrastructure projects in the Water and Flood Risk Management sector for clients including The Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales, Local Authorities, and Water Utility Companies. Our team also works on other large infrastructure projects across sectors such as transport and renewable power.

The role will be based out of one of our Binnies offices with existing members of our environment team but will serve projects across the country. We are a close team and have an active Environmental Community of Practice. We will provide support for you to further develop your career including an environmental specialism if applicable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing and writing all stages of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) including SEA, feasibility, screening/scoping, and Environmental Statement chapters
  • Leading environmental support on a wide range of projects including fluvial and coastal flood risk management, water utility, rail, renewable/ energy projects and other large-scale infrastructure
  • Managing consenting applications such as planning, Development Consent Orders, Transport and Works Order and Environmental Permits
  • Supporting environmental fieldwork
  • Environmental Clerk of Works roles
  • Liaising with project teams, clients, stakeholders and the public
  • Supporting business development and tenders
  • Providing a mentoring/supervisory role to more junior members of our team.
Qualifications/Requirements:

The role is suitable for an Environmental professional with full professional membership (such as IEMA or CIWEM). You should possess and be able to demonstrate the following qualifications, skills and knowledge:
  • An environmental related degree
  • EIA Practitioner status with IEMA and/or chartered with another relevant institute
  • A sound understanding of EIA
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Enjoy innovation and embracing advances in digital technology
  • Hold a full UK driving licence
  • Previous experience of working in a consultancy environment and/or flood and coastal risk management projects is an advantage.
