Job Description

The Service and Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance on site, repair, and service and commissioning of machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability. The role includes supporting product and customer site commissioning, field issue resolution, and technical support. This position requires both onsite maintenance and travel to customer locations to provide on-site service and technical assistance.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Maintenance and Repair

Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on machinery and MHE vehicles onsite to minimize downtime and optimise operational efficiency. Lead Diagnosis and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues both on-site and with customers. Carry out corrective repairs and component replacements in line with company procedures and manufacturer specifications. Maintain accurate service and maintenance records, ensuring compliance with company and customer documentation requirements.
2. Product Commissioning and Installation

Support product installations and commissioning at customer sites, ensuring machinery and equipment are set up, calibrated, and operating correctly. Conduct functional testing and validation of installed systems prior to handover. Provide technical feedback to production, engineering and design teams on field performance and installation challenges.
3. Customer Support and Demonstrations

Support customer demos and training sessions to showcase equipment capabilities and safe operation. Offer technical advice and on-site support to customers to resolve operational or performance issues. Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, always representing the company professionally. Main customer point of contact for all customer queries
4. Field Service Operations

Respond promptly to field service calls and breakdowns, ensuring minimal disruption to customer operations. Work independently or as part of a team to diagnose faults, implement repairs, and verify functionality. Liaise with internal teams to escalate complex issues or coordinate parts supply as needed with buyer and stores team.
5. Health, Safety, and Compliance

Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with health and safety policies, procedures, and risk assessments. Adhere to manufacturer and regulatory guidelines for equipment maintenance and handling. Maintain tools, equipment, and service vehicles in safe working condition.

Skills and Qualifications:

Essential:

Proven experience in maintenance, servicing, and repair of industrial machinery or MHE equipment. Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills across mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Willingness to travel and work independently in field-based environments. Valid driver's license.

Desirable:

Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronic Engineering (or equivalent technical qualification). Experience with commissioning new equipment and supporting product launches. Familiarity with preventative maintenance scheduling systems and service reporting software.
