We are expanding our ORAN footprint in the European market and are looking for highly motivated and skilled engineers in order to support the introduction of these new opportunities!
As part of our expansion in Europe, Samsung Networks UK is looking to hire an experienced and highly motivated SMO Design Engineer to support the delivery of our High Level and Low Level designs for a Tier 1 customer in Europe. You will handle and coordinate the delivery of the SMO aspect of the HLD and LLD and will excel in the supporting all of our Technical commitments and ensuring maximum customer satisfaction as a result.
This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate who can demonstrate a consistent record in Technical design creation of a complex multi vendor Telecommunications Design and has extensive experience in creating and maintaining highly satisfied customers.
This role is based in Reading, UK but will require travel to other project and customer locations if required.
Role and Responsibilities
Your key responsibilitiesLead the SMO technical inputs to the end to end High Level Design ensuring that all of the Samsung design information is in line with the customer requirements and Samsung Product capabilities
Define the Low Level Design document structure and populate the document with the necessary SMO parameters and key system settings as per the HLD
Lead SMO design workshops with the customer to gather and agree the network integration touchpoints and acquire sign off of the HLD and LLD SMO aspects
Work closely with the Samsung Design lead ensuring that the SMO inputs are provided as the highest possible quality and in a timely manner
Ensure that all of the SMO design documentation customer feedback is collected accurately and the feedback is internally reviewed and agreed with the Samsung SMO R&D team
Act as the SMO Design subject matter authority for the wider Samsung team
Maintain the HLD and LLD SMO inputs for the duration of the contract
Prepare new Acceptance Testing processes and procedures from SMO point of view using own knowledge/experience and information provision from higher design/support teams within Samsung
Lead the Support and execution of the Acceptance Testing phase(s).
Provide support during Rollout of SW or implementation of features/functionality and attend technical discussions on deployment topics and issues
Support customer interfaces/periodic forums regarding the current and future SMO technologies,
Provide customer support for technical queries, technical clarifications, SW correction and update/upgrade verification testing as well as consecutive deployment activities.
Create exceptional customer relationships
Ensure close co-operation and support liaison with Samsung R&D
Work to achieve close co-operation and support liaison with Samsung higher technical teams
What we need for this role
To be successful, you will possess the following skills and attributes:Excellent understanding of the operations and maintenance + test/acceptance and support phases of mobile communications networks with a proven experience in a similar role.
Ability to influence customers towards Samsung preferred testing solutions.
Know how on corresponding Telecom Equipment
Willingness for fast self-training on equipment, support tools/applications and understanding of Samsung implementation of features or functions
Ability to deliver final proposal documents to a high standard within tight timescales.
Enthusiastic and positive demeanour
Self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision
Demonstrated ability in a Design role in the telecom/IT sector
Consistent record in the delivery of complex large scale multi vendor Design documents
Previous experience of multi vendor network management solutions covering Fault Management, Configuration Management, Accounting, Performance Management and Security
Validated customer and partner managements skills
Exceptional communicator both internally and towards the customer
Excellent organisational skills and an ability to anticipate customer's needs and act accordingly
Excellent level of presentation, communication and planning skills.
Ability to prepare & deliver complex technical concepts to a high standard within tight timescales.
3gpp protocol layer 3G/4G/5G/vRAN knowledge - RRC/RLC/MAC/PHY/GTP/PDCP
Shown Linux OS platform skills and experience
Confirmed VNF and CNF skills and/or experience
K8S/OpenStack/Harbor skills and experience
MS Office Suite (Competent User)
Excel, Word & PowerPoint (High Competence)
Fluent in spoken and written English
Excellent documentation writing skills
Exceptional ability to navigate large and complex organisations to build relationships and influencing capabilities
Excellent communication and presentation skills
What does success look like?You will have optimally achieved customer sign off of the High Level and Low Level SMO Design inputs
You will have developed and agreed a solid Design delivery and review cycle process ensuring high quality of documentation and delivery
You will have created a close working relationship with key collaborators especially with the Samsung Design group and R&D engineers.
You will have supported all customer design queries and ensure that design changes are managed within the agreed change management process
