About the Role

We're looking for a calm, committed, and experienced Team Leader to oversee our

night outreach service

. This role is ideal for someone with experience in

homelessness, addiction, or mental health services

, who enjoys

leading a small team

, working directly with vulnerable people, and making an impact on the streets of North London.

This is a hands-on, in-person leadership role during our

Wednesday and Friday night shifts (5pm-12am)

.

What You'll Do

Lead the outreach team

during evening/night shifts, providing support, supervision, and real-time decisions to keep everyone safe and supported. Coordinate

van pick-ups and outreach routes

, ensuring individuals who use drugs and/or are sleeping rough are safely assisted and supported. Offer

harm reduction support

and advice to people in crisis, ensuring a non-judgmental, person-centred approach. Facilitate and support

group activities or conversations

where appropriate, to build trust and promote recovery. Ensure

referrals and follow-ups

are made to daytime or external services. Keep clear, confidential records of support provided, issues raised, and safeguarding concerns. Lead debriefs with your team and promote a healthy working culture. Work closely with local services to provide joined-up support and build positive partnerships.
Key responsibilities

1. Team leadership and supervision- Provide ongoing guidance and motivation, and foster a collaborative and supportive environment. Conduct regular team meetings, debriefs, and one-to-one support to promote staff development and maintain wellbeing, offering regular feedback and coaching.

2. Rota & shift management- Develop, manage, and update the staff rota to ensure sufficient coverage for all shifts, especially during peak hours.

3. Service delivery & coordination- Facilitate group activities that promote wellbeing, encourage personal development, and foster peer support. Coordinate the safe and effective delivery of outreach services.

4. Record-Keeping & Reporting- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all interactions with service users, including case notes, referrals, and incident reports.

5. Health, Safety, and Safeguarding- Ensure that all team members adhere to health and safety protocols, especially in emergency situations or high-risk scenarios. Monitor the safeguarding of all service users, responding swiftly and appropriately to any concerns or incidents of harm.

6. Collaboration & Partnership- Work closely with external organisations and agencies to build a network of support for service users.

About You

We're looking for someone who:

Has

experience leading or supervising a team

, especially in a setting related to homelessness, addiction, mental health, or social care. Is confident supporting people in crisis and understands

harm reduction

principles. Is

empathetic, calm under pressure

, and able to make quick, safe decisions on the ground. Has excellent

verbal communication

and clear written record-keeping skills. Is comfortable leading

small group sessions

or peer support-style activities. Holds a

full UK driving licence

and is comfortable driving at night. Is committed to promoting

diversity, inclusion, and trauma-informed support

.
Desirable (but not essential):

Qualifications in addiction, social care, or mental health. First Aid training or other relevant certificates. Experience working in peer-led or outreach services.
