Location: (Manchester, Leeds, Blackpool) - Hybrid (60% onsite over 4 weeks)

Role Overview



We are seeking a

ServiceNow Architect

to join the

ServiceNow Platform Engineering team

. The role will provide architectural leadership, technical assurance, and delivery support across multiple high-priority work packages, ensuring the ServiceNow platform is secure, scalable, and aligned with business objectives.

This individual will report into the

Lead for ServiceNow Platform Engineering and Live Operations

, working closely with the

Senior Platform Engineer

, product managers, and delivery squads.

Key Responsibilities



Architecture & Design Leadership

Define and govern ServiceNow architecture patterns, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and government technology standards. Lead on the design of secure API frameworks, integrations, and data models (IRM-CSDM alignment, SPM expansion, HRSD complex case, zScaler transition). Produce and present high-level designs (HLDs), low-level designs (LLDs), risk assessments, and artefacts for DWP's Design Authority.

Platform Engineering & Development Support

Drive adoption and optimisation of ServiceNow modules (IRM, SPM, HRSD, ITSM, CSDM). Design secure integration patterns to enable interoperability with third-party applications and cloud services. Provide guidance to engineering squads to reduce time-to-live and enable "secure by design" solutions.

Governance & Technical Assurance

Present technical decisions and design approaches to governance forums, influencing senior stakeholders. Lead challenge and assurance processes for proposed platform changes.

Knowledge Sharing & Leadership

Mentor and coach ServiceNow engineers and developers, embedding best practices. Support knowledge transfer and capability-building across the wider Place team. Act as a senior technical authority blending technical leadership with communication and influencing skills.

Essential Skills & Experience



Certification:

ServiceNow Certified Technical Architect (CTA).

Platform Expertise:

Proven experience designing and implementing ServiceNow solutions across multiple data centres and public cloud environments.

Module Mastery:

Deep subject matter expertise in ServiceNow core modules (e.g., IRM, ITSM, HRSD, CSDM, SPM).

Security & Integration:

Strong background in platform security, integration frameworks, and secure API provisioning.

Communication:

Strong influencing and presentation skills for senior technical governance forums.

Desirable Skills & Experience



Experience facilitating technical discovery workshops (integrations, automation, ML, platform security). Proven ability to define and document complex integration solutions across multi-vendor landscapes. Experience delivering architecture artefacts, patterns, and technical documentation for governance. Ability to support blended teams (engineering, delivery, product) with strong leadership and communication skills.

Key Work Packages You Will Support



Aligning

IRM entity hierarchies

with the

Common Service Data Model (CSDM)

. Designing secure

zScaler-based user access

transition patterns. Expanding adoption of the

Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM)

module. Defining a secure design pattern for

ServiceNow REST APIs

. Leveraging

HRSD

to deliver

complex case management

solutions.
Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: 450.00-500.00 per day

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Manchester M14 6HE
