We are currently seeking to appoint an inspirational and enthusiastic

HE

Technician

with a background in

Theatrical, Special Effects and Media Make-Up

to join our

Art, Design and Media

department.



This post would suit an individual who has achieved their own Theatrical, Special Effects or Media Make-Up qualification or who has an industry background in this area and understands the basic principles. Candidates will be enthusiastic, self-motivated with excellent communication skills, and with a committed approach to your work you will maintain a high quality learning environment for our learners.



Based in the Art, Design & Media department this exciting post will involve; supporting students in their learning of practical skills in the workshops and classrooms, liaising with College tutors to understand their requirements and being accountable for ensuring workshops are prepared before the start of lessons, and maintaining a high standard in the workshop at all times. You will be expected to carry out Health and Safety assessments and reviews, and to be responsible for ordering stock, maintaining a stock of consumables in line with annual budget and preparing materials for student activities as well as the cleaning and maintenance of the equipment.

The successful candidate must have:

A Level 5 qualification in Theatrical, Special Effects or Media Make-Up Previous experience in theatrical hair and make-up application, combined with skills in prosthetics, mould making, running and application is essential Experience of working with young people An understanding of Health and Safety requirements Good organisational skills and ability to work with people in an ever changing environment A full First Aid Qualification (or willing to obtain) Experience of stock control would be advantageous
