Brief Description
Shared Services Administrator [Payments]
Are you someone with excellent attention to detail and accuracy? Do you have experience of working in an accounts payable department? Do you thrive when working in a fast-paced environment managing several important tasks at once? If so, we have the perfect job for you!
We are looking for someone who can help oversee and support the work of a team who process payments and follow strict policies and procedures. Ideally you will be able to problem solve and demonstrate attention to detail within a fast-moving financial environment.

  • Salary: 23,758 per annum (Band 6)
  • Contract Type: Secondment - 12 months. Please note this role has the potential to become permanent.
  • Location: Square One | 4 Travis Street | Manchester M1 2NY - we currently have a hybrid working pattern so you will be required to work from the office at least 3 days per week.

About the role (External)
About Shared Services and the role:
Our Shared Services team deliver specialist processes that have a direct impact on the performance of Network Rail, our customers and suppliers. These services include payroll, recruitment and onboarding, payables, receivables, financial accounting, reporting, controls and compliance and helpdesk support.
On the Payments Team, we make payments to suppliers, employees and local authorities as well as our neighbours who live alongside the railway (for example landowners) or passengers who use our managed stations.
Main Responsibilities:
  • Check paperwork, highlight errors and request corrections to be made
  • Ensure Network Rail policies and procedures are being followed to mitigate fraud and maintain good financial control
  • Liaise with internal teams to ensure adherence to HMRC / tax regulations
  • Respond to a variety of queries for Internal customers via the shared mailbox
  • Work to strict deadlines in target driven environment to meet KPI's & SLA's
  • Prepare manual payments, pay expense claims, generate electronic payments and input data
  • Manage international payments, internal bank transfers, online banking, bank statement uploading and emergency payment requests
What are we looking for?
  • Experience using Oracle / similar electric payment software
  • Experience in a similar role / shared service environment
  • Exceptional customer focus/engagement
  • Proven administrative / analytical skills
  • Experience of delivering continuous improvement
  • Excellent communication skills
