Summary of the Shift E&I Technician role



We are looking for an Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Technician to join our Shift team in Cramlington, on an attractive

4 on 6 off shift pattern

. Within this role, you will be responsible for executing on-site maintenance tasks, including E&I repairs, modifications, plant upgrades, installations and commissioning, ensuring all equipment complies with statutory and regulatory requirements.

This role operates on a 12-hour shift pattern, consisting of

2 days, 2 nights and 6 off.



Your responsibilities



Adhere to the Sterling lockout/tagout (LOTO) and permit-to-work procedures Carrying out electrical and instrument repairs, modifications, plant upgrades, installation, and commissioning. Calibration and function testing of instrumented loops including valves, level, temperature, flow & pressure instruments. Conducting hazardous area inspections and repairs ensuring all hazardous area equipment complies with the statutory requirements and the appropriate British Standards are maintained. Problem solving and diagnostic checks on electrical and instrument systems recommending changes and improvements to the area E&I assistant engineer. Read and interpret instrument loop and schematic drawings Medium and Low voltage installations and general electrical systems. Requirements for the role



Relevant qualifications in one of the core disciplines is essential. Having a COMPex certificate is desirable, but not essential as training will be provided. Previous experience within the chemical industry is desirable, but not essential. Capable of prioritising tasks and manage time effectively. Self-motivated with a can-do attitude. Must adept at problem-solving in a methodical manner and have good fault-finding skills. Should be able to demonstrate the ability to appropriately respond to situations with the necessary level of urgency. General understanding of 4-20mA & 3-15PSI instrument control. It is preferred to have relevant prior experience in identifying and eliminating root causes.
