Job Description

Following approval of our 12mppa planning application, Bristol Airport has an unprecedented period of change ahead with capital investment of 400m+. We're looking for a Shift Engineer to join our Engineering team on this exciting journey.

Our Shift Engineers provide Bristol Airport with a shift-based engineering, maintenance, and technical resource, managing and maintaining a safe and efficient operation always ensuring regulatory compliance. You'll ensure our airport systems, services and assets are maintained to the highest standards.

This role would suit an experienced Engineer, with a recognised qualification or apprenticeship as a Maintenance Electrician or Mechanical Engineer.

Interviews will commence the week of the 17th February 2025.



PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES



Develop a comprehensive understanding of the airport layout, functions and assets through a process of continuous development, assessment, training and development Undertake all reactive maintenance duties responding to system and equipment failures in a timely manner in order to sustain the Airports services Undertake engineering and maintenance duties on Electrical and Mechanical systems, including, but not limited to; HV and LV distribution systems, baggage handling systems, emergency lighting, fire alarm, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems Undertake planned preventative maintenance (PPM) according to the routine maintenance plan. Providing feedback on equipment condition, updating and completing records and making recommendations for improvements and / or cost savings Plan and complete inspections, maintenance and fault finding activities on the Airfield Ground Lighting and associated systems, and other airfield installations as required to ensure regulatory compliance Undertake routine inspection and maintenance tasks on Emergency Lighting systems Co-coordinate, supervise and escort Contractors and Service Engineers as required in accordance with relevant Bristol Airport H&S policy Review, inspect and check work carried out by subcontractors, report any compliance / quality issues and oversee remedial works Produce and review Risk Assessments and Method Statements for BRS Engineering activities and to issuing Work Permits for Business Partners and Service Engineers Ensure that engineering spares are ordered through BRS purchasing procedures and spares are available to maintain equipment reliability and reduce down time following failures Maintain and keep detailed records of maintenance problems and activities Following detailed and through investigation of any maintenance problems and ensure the Engineering Team is fully briefed regarding day to day issues and problems Refuel critical generators and carry out maintenance to critical AGL systems Provide guidance and support for Development and Commercial teams on projects as required Manage own compliance of Health & Safety within the workplace and wider site environment Provide updates and reports on any equipment or system failures Ensure that Engineering Duty Managers are kept updated on any significant projects or tasks Changes priorities and switches between tasks without losing sight of deadlines, and keeps operational managers aware of situations

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION



Essential



Experience with High Voltage Electrical Installations have completed a recognised apprenticeship as a Maintenance Electrician or Mechanical Engineer, whilst also being competent as a multi-skilled trade person who can carry out general maintenance trade jobs. Computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Office / Outlook. Experience of continuous improvement initiatives HNC / ONC, or other recognised qualification, in either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (preferred). A minimum of 5 years' post qualification experience. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - both verbal and written. The ability to organise and prioritise time and workload, using own initiative to deliver. Awareness of the need for efficient working practice and cost control. Excellent IT skills, proven use of the MS Office suite of programmes and ability to understand and utilise Engineering IT systems. Learns from errors, putting into place systems to prevent them from reoccurring Good command of written and spoken English Ability to complete projects started in a safe manner

Desirable



Experience working within a highly regulated environment. Worked in a similar highly regulated engineering / maintenance role operating on a 24/7 basis. Previous experience of working with automated PLC controlled equipment.
