How You'll Perform the Role
Waddington Europe has a vacancy for a Shift Manager in Thermoforming Department to work for Waddington Europe - Bridgwater site.
We are looking for a manager who enjoys a hands-on role managing the shift. Putting safety first, delivering the plan in the most efficient and cost productive way by getting the most out of the equipment, resources, and people available.
This role is available on a 3 shift rotational pattern. 9:15pm - 6:15am Sunday-Thursday, 05:15am-14:15pm Monday to Friday followed by 13:15pm-22:15pm Monday-Friday, working 8.5 hours per day, full time.
What We Need From You
Run as per the plan ensuring any issues or deviations are managed and reported, all end of shift reports have been completed and sent to the relevant departments
Ensure all production reporting during and at the end of the shift end is accurate and all set-ups of machines ready for a smooth transition onto the next shift
Prioritising the utilization of labour to ensure all production and customer demands are met
Following the production plan, ensure efficiency targets are met, alongside our high- quality standards whilst maintaining our health and safety procedures
Maintain and improve staff efficiencies and effectiveness
Attend daily meetings when necessary
Ensure tool changes are done in the allocated time, pre-preparations or issues are highlighted ahead to minimize downtime and waste
Using the plan, prioritize the run order of machines, ensuring they run at an optimal cycle to maximise productivity, staff efficiencies, and effectiveness
Understand fully all procedures and ensure that all tests and/or checks both manual and visual are carried out
Ensure that all goods leaving the department are labelled appropriately (internal/external) fit for purpose, secured, and fully covered and that all required documentation is attached
Assist in training of less experienced staff and to offer help and guidance whenever possible
Undergo additional training as and when required to perform their respective duties safely and effectively
Comply with all policies and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy working environment is maintained
Abide by the company's environmental and quality management procedures
Responsible for the authorization of holidays, sick leave and return to work interviews and maintain TMS systems
Arrange staff overtime as requested
Carry out yearly and year end appraisals
Carry out investigations and disciplinary's as requested
Ensure quality checks are made regularly and that product quality meets or exceeds the standards set
Ensure quality standards are maintained and any nonconforming items are investigated and resolved in accordance with NCR procedures
Instil a culture of continuous improvement and team working
Assist in the activities associated with company stock-takes
Communicating with the production manager and site lead and all other departments at all levels ensuring information is passed efficiently and correctly
To undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required, and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this job
Wears and leads by example of the wearing of the work uniform and PPE equipment
Comply with all policies and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy working environment is maintained
