A family friendly food manufacturing company in Nantwich are looking to grow the team. We are looking for an enthusiastic team manager who will fit in with our friendly and professional culture, to lead and work with the production team.

Working hours: Alternating shifts 6am - 2pm Monday to Friday / 2pm 10pm Monday to Thursday

Rate of pay: 16.77/hour, increasing after a successful 6 months' probation and training to 18.25/hour.

Role Purpose



The Shift Manager is responsible for leading and managing all production activities on their shift within our BRC-compliant food manufacturing environment. This role ensures that operational performance, product quality, and food safety standards are consistently met, while driving continuous improvement and fostering staff engagement and development.

Key Responsibilities



Operational Performance & Compliance

- Lead, manage, and coordinate production activities across the shift to meet production plans, KPIs, and customer requirements.
- Ensure compliance with BRC standards, food safety and hygiene.

- Monitor and control operational efficiency, minimizing downtime, waste, and costs while maximizing productivity.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement, proactively identifying opportunities to improve processes and outcomes.

Quality & Food Safety

- Drive quality standards, ensuring that all products are manufactured to specification and customer expectations.
- Work closely with Quality Assurance to promptly address non-conformance issues and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure rigorous adherence to food safety, HACCP, and site hygiene procedures at all times.

People Management & Development

- Lead, motivate, and coach production teams to deliver high levels of performance and engagement.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, identifying training and development needs.
- Promote a positive, safe, and inclusive working environment where employees are respected and encouraged to contribute ideas.
- Manage attendance, discipline, and employee relations issues in line with company policy.

Health & Safety

- Ensure all shift activities are carried out safely, in compliance with health & safety legislation and site policies.

Key Skills & Competencies



- Strong leadership and people management skills with proven experience in supervising teams.
- Knowledge of BRC standards, HACCP, and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice).
- Excellent communication, influencing, and problem-solving skills.
- Results-oriented, with the ability to balance performance targets with quality and compliance.
- Resilient, adaptable, and capable of making sound decisions under pressure.

Experience & Qualifications



- Previous experience in a supervisory/management role within food manufacturing or FMCG.
- Strong knowledge of BRC standards and food safety principles.
- Formal qualifications in food safety or HACCP (desirable).
- IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent health & safety training (preferred).

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 16.77 per hour

Expected hours: 37 per week
