We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Shift Operations Manager to oversee our manufacturing operations. The Ideal candidate will have a strong background in food manufacturing, ideally in commodity processing (cereals/grain, flour, peas, beans, legumes, etc..) and be comfortable in working in a fast-paced agile environment where they will be both managing a team, and expected to step-up and be hands-on and perform as part of one.
The company has recently relocated to a four and a half times larger site, and installed a new site leadership structure and growth plan aimed at achieving significantly increased output, greater quality and efficiency. The Shift Operations Manager would play a pivotal role in bringing this growth plan to life.
Responsibilities
Provide Transformational leadership / managing through change to help implement and embed new processes and procedures into the team.
Manage daily production activities to ensure targets are met in terms of quality, quantity, and deadlines.
Confidence to manage cross-functionally, supply-chain, quality and engineering out of normal office-hours as the 'Site Lead'.
Develop and implement effective production processes (SOPs) and systems to enhance operational efficiency.
Oversee quality control measures to maintain high standards of product output.
Collaborate with supply chain teams to ensure timely availability of materials and components.
Lead the delivery of the production plan and allocate resources effectively to optimise workflow.
Identify areas for continuous improvement within the production process and implement necessary changes.
Provide leadership and guidance to the production team, fostering a culture of teamwork and accountability.
Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations within the manufacturing environment.
Maintain compliance with BRCGS food safety standards.
Utilise SAP systems for tracking production metrics and reporting on performance.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Shift Production Manager / Operations Manager or similar role within a manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of business processes related to production and supply chain management.
Mechanical knowledge is essential for troubleshooting equipment issues as they arise.
Familiarity with quality control standards and methodologies.
Experience with continuous improvement practices such as Lean or Six Sigma is advantageous.
Proficient in using SAP or similar ERP systems for managing production data.
Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams towards achieving common goals.
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail, enabling effective problem-solving.
