Overview
As part of the UK logistics team, the Shipping Department plays a key part in the timely dispatch of any shipments in and out of the site. The team aims to provide a first-class customer service to internal and external customers. The role is vital to organisational success to ensure smooth logistics flows and impacts on business revenue.

Main Accountabilities

Ensure any shipment of products to customers is timely according to planned shipping dates. Own and resolve any shipping blocks to deliver on time whilst maintaining shipping records in line with Teledyne & HM requirements.

Ensure accurate import and export documentation is provided to forwarders, carriers, and HM Revenue & Customs.

Ensure the submission of accurate information for efficient import of materials and customer returns for taxes and duty saving.

Ensure declarations are strictly compliant with customs requirements and licenses.

Build effective and professional relationships with the Customs department that promote the organisational image and reputation.

Reduce freight costs for the organisation. For specific transports help achieve the best rate possible. Also ensure transport invoices are valid before payment approval

Proactively provide shipment tracking information to internal customers. In event of an issue, ensure parties are kept informed until resolved.

Ensure specific tracking is in place for customer returns and assist in the resolution of any problems as required.

Essential Experience

  • Knowledge of HM Revenue and Customs procedures an advantage though full training given
  • Computer literate, skills in MS office and ERP systems (SAP preferred)
  • Excellent administration skills and an ability to multi-task, work to tight deadlines
  • Can do approach and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and communicational skills
  • Team player with an ability to work independently
