Job Description


Our Client is seeking an experienced Shipping/Logistics Coordinator (supply chain) to join their team on a permanent full-time basis (office based). The role will incorporate some general operations team duties - raising the PO\'s, arranging transport for UK deliveries and dispatching stocks from the warehouse to 3rd Party co-packers at peak times.

Location: Near Gillingham, Kent

Salary: \xc2\xa326-\xc2\xa328,000 pa + non contractual annual KPI/PR bonus, paid twice a year

Hours: 8.30am to 5.00pm, Monday to Thursday

9am to 3pm on Friday - no remote working

The Shipping/Logistics Coordinator will ideally have the following skills/experience:

Qualifications and essential experience

  • Min of GCSE grade B/C (5 or 6) in English & Mathematics or equivalents, ideally A Level or degree educated.
  • Experience of Microsoft Office confident in Excel (Pivot Tables, Formulas)
  • A general understanding of demand planning principles, theories & concepts
Preferred
  • Experience of working in a demand planning, supply chain role
  • Experience of dealing with suppliers & colleagues in Europe and the Far East
  • UK driving licence
The Shipping/Logistics Coordinator Role

With such a critical part to play, and the seasonal nature of our business, at times it can get very busy and demanding in our team. This role requires a high degree of accuracy of data input and the ability to maintain composure under pressure, while managing multiple, competing priorities.
  • Overseeing all aspects of logistics, including import / export sea, air, road and courier shipments etc.
  • Organize and manage the shipment process to maximize efficiencies throughout the whole delivery.
  • Day-to-day shipment tracking and maintains an accurate shipment tracker to communicate all shipment changes with other colleagues within the team.
  • Obtain prices from shipping and trucking companies for import and export operations, negotiate for best routing for cost savings.
  • Dealing with all shipping related queries over email and telephone.
  • Liaise with both the suppliers and forwarders to deal with all custom clearance process for import/ export shipment, ensure all custom paperwork are well prepared ahead of shipments landing.
  • Review and advise best accurate commodity codes for custom declaration, ensure correct duty are paid for import/ export shipment.
  • Managing the relationships with logistic providers, negotiate for lowest freight charges and obtain the best service support. Raise purchase orders & delivery notes, update goods-in and finished goods information.
  • Ensure that UK production (packing) is cost effective & identify savings where possible.
  • Chase UK & FE suppliers for delivery dates, negotiating on improved dates where necessary.
  • Manage stock control using current IT packages, including annual stocktake and manage stock transfers between main site and 3rd party co-packers.
  • Book in deliveries with customers & 3rd party co-packers and hauliers & arrange UK collections where necessary.
